What is a solid base? A ballistic tip with a lead nose?
I wonder. Can anyone answer the 69 dollar question. (inflation from 64)

The Solid base and the Ballistic Tip are the same basic bullet. The difference being the BT is a hollow point with a Polymer tip which acts as a wedge to initiate expansion.

I will PM you with my checking account number for direct deposit.

The solid base came out well before the ballistic tip. Great hunting bullet, I used them until they were replaced by the ballistic tip. Bought a good supply of the solid base bullets when Nosler ran them again a couple years back.Rick.

Same here. They shot well for me 20 years ago. I remember being irritated when they were replaced with the Ballistic Tip... When they were offered again, at great prices, a couple of years ago, I bought a mess of 'em. Good bullets.

Thanks guys. I knew I could get the answer from the gang. JD, no problem with me, its the Supreme Allied Commander that has the moola at hand thats the problem. I'll ask her, and we'll call it the Nosler Stimulus Package.

Thats funny!

The Solid Base bullets are good. If you can get some, you won't be disappointed. I have some 7mm 140 gr SB bullets tucked away.

Bivwak has 6mm/243 100grn solid base bullets on special auction right now. I believe it's $5 for a bag of 50 and free shipping.

Rich, saw that. But I don't have a .243. Sold it a while back, replaced it with a 7mm-08.
