I just got a 44 super blackhawk finally! I have some 240 hornady xtp and 240 h.p. nosler sporting handgun bullets on hand. A buddy gave me the noslers. My question is are these bullets designed for hunting big game or is target shooting its intended design? Thanks!

And they work well. I shoot the Nosler(and sometimes Hornady) 200gr HP and have taken about 6 deer and a large black bear plus a number of squirrels etc. All with excellent results. I shoot mag primers and H-110 for mag loads and reg or mag primers and Unique for more mild loads.

I have shot alot of skunks, porcupines and other varmints with a 44 henry rifle using the 240 Nosler JHP, very effective and serious expansion. Could've dropped a 50 cent piece or a Canadian loonie most of the way thro the porcupines until it reached the part of the wound channel that the bullet was expanding in, usually about 4-5" between entrance wound and full opened wound channel.

Saved us a few vet bills due to quills over the last couple years.

JT.
