Took the family out to look at some elk today and play with my new phone skope adapter to take pics and video through my spotting scope with my phone. Found some elk....not much in the way of bulls but the kids had a good time.

If you were to find this bull with an antler growing out the front of his face A) would you shoot it? And B) would you have it mounted?

Anytime you can get to the outdoors with your family it has to be a great day. That is quite the herd of Elk .
Thank you for the post & photos.

Blessings,
Dan

That's pretty cool.
Can you tell us more about the adapter you got; make, model and where you got it?

Also it seems that some quality is lost from uploading it here on the video. The original video on my phone is much clearer...just some mirage from being pretty warm today.

Absent an any bull tag for Mt. Emily, WallaWalla or Whenaha I'd dump him in a heart beat. Euro mount just cause it is rare.

Yeah, but if you shoot it, some resident granola cruncher will accuse you of shooting a unicorn. Do you have a tag for a unicorn? Near pictures and video.

Then you're good to go. I've witnessed that particular antler formation on a couple of deer over the years. I don't recall seeing it on any elk.

Same thought here SC... I'd love to put the hammer on him!

That's alright Mike.. I ain't skeered of no granola cruncher....

Great videos and pictures. I dig that adapted. Love to take pictures through the spotters.

That's pretty neat. The friend we hunt elk with had a picture of a unicorn he removed from the gene pool one or two years ago.

did the vortex mounts shake at all or was it solid? My phoneskope eyepiece mount gives a little so the pics can be blurry.

I got a hapurs Bluetooth shutter remote from Amazon for 6.99 or so. It really helps with not disturbing the setup while taking pictures.

I was looking at getting a remote as well. It's fairly solid but does have some give. I took a piece of electrical tape and put a layer of that on the inside of the ring that fits over the eye piece and that snugged it up almost perfectly.

We saw about 3-400 elk just outside of Mountain Home in the sage flats on the way home from duck hunting today. That is the most I've seen that close to the highway. We also saw about 100 antelope. That completed a pretty good day after limiting with 21 greenheads and a goose.

Anytime I've seen that many elk, they were on the wrong side of the property fence!
