Iowa Muzzleloader season is going ok,I have had shot opportunities every day on does but so far all I have seen is one basket buck small 8 point.
Looking for a nicer one still.
Did take a doe still hunting about 45 yard shot offhand. Funny thing is when I was dragging her out of the woods I walked up on a small yearling to about 20 yards that is a first, I let her go as I had a .93 the way the crow flies to the truck. Took three hours.
TC Rengade .54 with .530 round ball .018 patch and 90 grains by volume Pyrodex RS.

Congrats! Glad you got her with a patched round ball. The .54 is one of my favorites. Hope you get the big one, Dan.

Excellent! Don't know many people still hunting with a patched round ball.

Guy

Something I have yet to do, hunt with a smoke pole. I need to get that done.
Congratulations on your doe, I applaud your decision making good luck with your buck.

There’s a few of us out there shooting patched round balls yet, Guy! ;)

Next deer I kill will be shot with a ball I cast myself...just for some added fun. :)
