The young fella had his extractor break on his rifle at the start of summer so we took it to the local smith to hook us up. Thompson Center was very good to deal with and sent us 2 by the way.
Anyway the smith is a talkative ol bugger and used to be a competitive shooter, just about had the young fella talked into buying one of his custom rifles, until the ol guy came out to the car to talk to the wife that was sitting patiently (NOT!!) waiting for us. He brought up the idea and the ol girl was not happy with the idea at all. `your not buying anymore guns for a while`
Well the boy and I saw a loophole and decided to re-barrel instead  , pillar bedded, blueprinted the action, worked the trigger the best he could and a med heavy 26`barrel. Just picked it up last saturday, can`t wait to hit the range, I figure the boy will be outshooting his old man very soon.

Nice, show us a picture of it Ken! I have a Venture in a 22-250 and by all shooting so far, it is a great rifle. It certainly shoots really well. I almost wanna AI it and do something a little different with it. Scotty

Doesn't sound as if the young fella' got hurt. It should be good to go.

here`s a pic, not great but it is what it is, the smith also added a heavy recoil lug as the factory one is quite thin.

That looks pretty nice. Do they make aftermarket stocks for the Ventures? Scotty

Not that we could find at the time. This rifle shot pretty good with the flimsy stock, so it should should be better with the bedding job and heavier barrel.
