My daughter and 15y granddaughter and 8y grandson were in a vehicle accident yesterday. She was driving to her son’s birthday party and a F150 tried to cross 4 lanes of hiway in front of them and she t boned him at 65 mph. Hitting him in back door and rear tire. The driver blamed the sun except it was behind him. He was heading east at 430pm. He was not hurt.
My family is ok other than airbag scuff marks and fat lips and bloody nose. Everyone is very lucky. The 4 Runner she was driving completely collapsed in the front end. It performed as designed. Of course they were shook up and my son-law says she will be driving another 4 Runner after seeing what the vehicle looked like and them walking away from it.
I just thank god I still have them after this.

We have Life 360 on our phones and I got the “Crash Alert” immediately after the collision. I could pinpoint their location and head there.
Recommend if you have families.

I bet I responded to T/A at least once a day for the 20 years I was on the job, might have missed a few days in there but damn, people crash a lot. To walk away from a hi-speed Tbone collision is remarkable. Somebody had guarding angles looking out for them for certain. So glad they are relatively unscathed.

So glad to hear that everyone is ok.
All of your loved ones are truly blessed.

Glad to hear that no one was seriously hurt. Yes, thank goodness for modern engineering and good luck.

Glad everyone is OK.
Some people shouldn’t have licenses. I see enough lousy driving each day going to work.

Also grateful that everyone is OK...though they'll be feeling it more tomorrow.
Airbags and seatbelts really do save lives!
Not to mention the crumple zones in our newer vehicles, as compared to those just 3 or 4 decades ago.
Glad Susan has a 4Runner to drive around!

I totally agree! Having started driving in the 60s there is very little about them that I would want to go back to. Today's cars are safer, quieter, lower maintenance, better fuel economy, and in most cases they aren't rust buckets in 10 years.

I live in Wisconsin where salt is used heavily in the winter and my 2011 F150 has no visible rust yet.

My wife drives a 2021 Toyota Sienna hybrid van that is safe and reliable. She averages 42-43 MPG on every day driving and in the upper 30s when driving on interstate highways.

Phew! Your heart had to sink when that L360 alert came across. Glad everyone made it. And yes, modern cars are so much better. As a truck driver a see more than my share of crashes, and I'm amazed when I pass a crumpled mess on the side of the road and folks standing around not too banged up. Of course, there's always exceptions when it doesn't work out.

adding to original post:
After dealing with Dr visits to make sure daughter and grandkids were OK and documented. It hit me like a ton of bricks. My 32 y old son also was in a hi speed accident 4 weeks earlier. He was rear ended at 60+ mph and totaled a '93 Toyota Pickup. He said he looked into the rear view mirror as the diesel PU was rolling coal accelerating as he hit him. He just floored it to minimize the impact. Wiped out 20' of guard rail and ended up just feet from going over the edge into the Clearwater River. He walked away un-scathed but the truck is a total loss.
It is crazy how quickly things can happen.......

I could have lost my family this summer.

It only takes a moment to change circumstances that directly affects life and lives!

Most people are in such a rush for instant gratification today, and seem to have little appreciation for life anymore. And we tend to see this in younger people as they have not experienced enough life to truly appreciate it, unless they already have had those hard lessons.

We really do tend to learn the hard way!!!
