The Case of the .45 ACP

The 45ACP with a 230 gr JHP is a classic thug stopper!
If you are going to da hood, don't leave home without one!

Like the fellas said. It has worked for about 100 years so.......

The classic load is a 230gr @ 875fps or so but there are no flys on 185grJHP @ 1000fps+. I actually prefer tham in shorter bbl. pistols like my OM.

I agree that 230gr ball is a real stopper.

But over the years I have gained great respect for the Nosler 185gr JHP.
I load 4.2 to 4.5gr of Vihtavouri N310 in a Winchester match case (OAL of 1.20) and that load will not only devistate what it hits but it is also easy on
felt recoil and VERY accurate.

Can't remember if I EVER had a jam using that load.

If I was to trust my life to a load, that would be it.

Don't count out the CorBon 165gr HP+P at 1250fps designed for female police officers to keep them from getting wrist tired. My favorite bullet for the 45acp is the Speer 200gr JHP nicknamed the "Flying Ash Can and Flying Dixie Cup" it put a lot of perps down and was a favorite of the LA Sheriffs Dept.I still have a few hundred of those bullets I load in my 45lc brass to shoot in my Ruger BH 45lc and my 454casull 15" Encore pistol.
