How does a hunter choose between the fast 6.5mm cartridges?
264 Winchester is the classic, a blast from the past, but still very fast.
26 Nosler hit the market several years ago and is avail in the excellent Nosler rifle.
6.5-300 Weatherby is seriously speedy, and offered in the Weatherby line.
6.5-300WSM is (I believe) a wildcat only, but apparently easy to live with.
Thinking something with zippy speed, flat trajectory, and plenty of zap for longish range shots on open country mule deer & pronghorn... And wanting a step up from my 25-06, which has done well to 400 yards in that role. Why a new one? Well.... Because!
Don't need it, just thinking it through. How does a hunter make the choice?
