Thompson Center coming back

I’ll have three contender pistols and two rifles for sale as soon as the Majors estate is through probate. Also have 8 or 10 spare pistol barrels and 4 or 5 rifle barrels. They are all in great shape and frankly by the time I inventoried them I was simply writing down info. I know there is a 30 waters and a couple of 45/70s. He really enjoyed them.

Hi All. I'm inexperienced with the Contender though I've owned one. I just recently pulled out my old but excellent shape original Contender pistol out of the back of the safe that I bought used at a gun show about '95 with a 10" .410 shotgun barrel. It was fun a few times (I rarely hit a skeet- not easy) but now I want to update it with a 7mm-08 rifle length barrel or similar. I know the regs have changed over the years and are confusing. As I understand, currently (Nov '24), I can change an original Contender pistol into a rifle and back to a pistol- correct? If so I'd like to get a 16 to 20" barrel (preferably 7mm-08 but 7-30 is ok) and a rifle stock. I'd also like to be able to put my pistol stock back on it to use on a WY pistol only hunt without having to get a pistol length barrel for one hunt. Is this ok by Fed and WY regs?
My frame is the original. It doesn't have the needed hammer safety. How can I get a hammer safety put on it? Can I buy a replacement hammer with the safety? There used to be available these plastic safety caps that pop off. Are there still?
Any advice on updating my old Contender is much appreciated! Thanks!

The 308 class of cartridges and brethren, like the 7mm-08, are too powerful for the Contender and are Encore only. If you want a 7mm, the 7-30 Waters or one of the many wildcats like the JDJ cartridges will be your best bet.

Like posted above, as long as your frame is registered/made as a pistol frame you can make it a rifle as long as the barrel is 16+ inches when a shoulder stock is attached.

Give me a heads up Don when you can. I’d might be interested in some.
