Tough season, but GMX'd one to death

Toughest deer season I have ever had, got a doe during muzzleloader and then during a rifle doe quota hunt I managed to luck into another one. I have owned a .243 Win for over 20 years but have never deer hunted with one until now. I got a smoking deal on some Hornady 80GMX bullets and struck up a load on the 2nd charge with H4831 that threw 5 into 1". Shooting slightly uphill that is the exit you see. I was not real sure about how the 243 would do from a penetration standpoint, after this I can see a lot of my bigger cal rifles spending more time in the safe.

I've had no real complaints about the GMX. I can believe the bullet performed well for you; that doe appears to have thought so. Congratulations on drifting her, Heath.

Very nice. A 243Win was my dad's only deer rifle for about 30yrs. Neither he nor all the deer we ate ever thought that rifle was too little for deer. Congratulations on joining the club! Enjoy the new deer slayer, and the venison steaks.

Heath,

Well done buddy. Looks like the GMX did the job nicely.

Heath,
Nice Doe and good shooting. By the exit hole I'd say the bullet performed well. I'm still chasing the Bucks here in TN where I live. The bucks are still rutting!!

Heath, the GMX bullet is top quality . I know a number of guys that use them and all have given them great reviews. My son's first rifle was a 243 BDL and it is one we wish we had not sold .

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks guys, I was more than pleased with the GMX. I just sent my bolt off for flutes and a cerakote so the 243 will be out of commission for the rest of the season. Looks like it's .260 Rem time.

Don, not sure where you are in TN, but I rekon middle and west TN is still getting with it in regards to the rut. It's been tough here in the East.

Very nice. I used the GMX this past season in my 7mm Weatherby (Hornady factory load), but unfortunately never got any chance to try it out.
