Well new to me anyway, found this one on Armslist and picked it up Friday. Came with the case, 148 rounds of ammunition, Nikon P300 scope, rings, bi-pod, Leapers bi-pod adapter, and CMMG SV brake. I'll probably loose the brake soon as I really don't like them, but the rifle was amazingly quiet even with it on. The 220 grain subsonics didn't sound any louder than a high velocity .22 lr does with my hearing protection on.

I'm not sure I'll keep the P300 scope either. It's not a bad scope other than the reticle, it covers too much of the target for real precise work. However, I had a blast ringing steel after I got the scope dialed in close enough to work. I had fun ringing steel the rest of time I was at the range, never missed a 4X4 plates or the 4X3 diamonds at 100 yards.

Here is the first group I shot with the rifle, Remington 120 grain OTM ammunition.

I got cocky and the second wasn't nearly as good.

Interesting little rifle.

With a can/suppressor it could be even better!

Looking forward to more performance reports.

Most interesting setup. You are correct that the first group is very gratifying.

300 Black out in a bolt action would make a handy truck gun or a nice youth starter rifle with the low recoil about like a 30-30 I guess. It does look like it will shoot.

Nice rig for sure.
That would be a lot of fun.
Nosler is introducing a .308 220 gr BT RN for the 300 AAC Blackout.
The BC is .472 and is designed for sub-sonic loads, 2x expansion down to 1000 fps.

Absolutely no recoil with the brake even with the 220's. I imagine I'll have the same if I get a suppressor for it like planned.

Most subsonic loads start out at 1000 FPS or less. However, I have to run supersonic loads if I want to hunt with it in Colorado for big game. Subsonic loads don't meet the ft-lbs of energy requirements by manufacturer to be legal in Colorado. Still might be a fun load to try with a suppressor if I head down to TX to hunt hogs or any state that I might hunt deer in that doesn't have energy requirements.

That could be a lot of fun in the old '06 with Unique or Trail boss!

Set up a 12X12 plate at 300 today and tried the BDC Reticle out. First group on steel was a little high.

Adjusted down and held on the 297 yard hash mark acoording to Nikon's ballistic App, a bit happier where the bullets were hitting. I need to shoot the ammo across a chrony to get it dialed in better. The P-300 scope sucks for precision aiming, it covers a lot of target.

Very nice, very clean and crisp looking. It also shoots very well. a keeper for sure.

I have shot a 300BKO AR. Really enjoyed it. Accurate at 100 yds and way less recoil than the 30-30's I remember. Curiosity- what type of hunting would you use it for? Too what range? CL

PS - That bolt gun looks like way more fun than an AR, to me anyway. CL

CL I'd use it on pronghorn and deer, and I'd probably be okay to 300 yards with it. I'd prefer to stay on the minus side of it though. I've used my 6X47 (6mm-222RM) out to 300 on pronghorn and whitetail with 70 grain bullets pretty successfully, the .300 BLK gets that far with about 100 ft-lbs less energy but with 50 grains more in the bullet. So I'd say that's my comfort zone.
