Turkey ?

I didn't think of this until just now, but two weeks ago when I shot my first turkey, I found the oddest thing while skinning it out. I found probably close to a half a dozen hard shelled snails in its crawl, more so than the grain I found. Have any of you turkey hunters ever seen anything like this? Is this normal? I know that grouse come out to the roads to get gravel for their crawl, but I never would have guessed turkeys ate exotic things like snails.
 
They may not be exotic to the turkeys! :grin:

I know that they eat bugs, and I suppose that the snails address two issues, what with their desire for protein and also the need for material to grind seeds in the craw.

Here in California and in France turkys enjoy eating something similar to snails. They dine on escargot.

I should have known that they would have expensive taste! Don't Californians usually take the snail out of the shell?
