I got the 35 Whelen AI and the 7RM that I bedded to the range today to sight them in.
The 7 RM shows promise as it wanted to shoot bug holes as I was sighting it in till the wind got a hold of it at 100yds.
The 35 Whelen AI always puts a smile on my face and I do believe bedding that rifle will really help it out with being consistent. It was sighted in with 200gr Hornady SPS. This flat base stubby bullet really likes to shoot well.
As for being cold how about 17* with a stiff 20mph wind and it never got above 19* while I was at the range, OH and it is fully exposed to the elements so there is no protection from the wind at all.
Anyway here's some target pictures from 25yds to 100yds.
Oh and one of a very crazy fellow I would recommend that anyone seeing him avoid him at all cost because anyone that goes shooting in those conditions has to be nuts. He was dressed for it though I have to give it to him, he was wearing Carhart insulated bibs,
a down vest, a Carhart insulted coat along with a neoprene face mask and double knitted wool hat. His glasses would ice up from the steam that escaped the mask as he breathed and had to shoot with out them on.

My goodness, it does look cold. But, where's the snow? We're enjoying a balmy -10 C (14 F) today, Rodger. That actually feels warm when you've been experiencing -20 C for a few days.

19 degrees is almost shirt weather! Cold starts at -20f, none of that Celsius or wind chill nonsense!

Tbear, for Alaska yes but we are talking mid east coast. It was in the 50*s last week and now in the teens today. I hate these extreme temp swings that you can't get acclimated to. If it's going to be cold than let it be cold all the time and not 50* one day and 17* the next. I've seen -10* here back in the day but not recently.

Seems like a good day to burn some gun powder. Before too long we will be complaining about it being so hot our barrels won't cool off!

What did you shoot outta the 7?

There was a light skiff of snow left between melting and the wind blowing it away. On last Friday it was 50* and snowed on Sat. when the Canadian air came down.

Scotty I was shooting 140gr BT and they were trying to go into one hole till the wind got hold of one of them and blew off to the right. there are 2 at three O-clock at the edge of the diamond center.
The 7RM needs some more trigger work since it still has a little creep in it.

Ya- well I cant do it any more, but cold is cold. It was -11F on my thermometer last night, got to +2 or so today I think. Headed down there again tonight. Amazing what the body can get used to. 40 is cold if you used to 90. Here's a post from a few years ago.

I have looked just like that...or worse. :) Always good to get out! CL

Rodger I am glad to see you got out and tested those to rifles you had bedded ! It has been cold here the last 5 days as we actually had severe cold warnings with -45C with the windchill. Yesterday we were still in the deep-freeze but today I woke up to -10C almost wore shorts to celebrate .
Looking forward to more range reports as you fine tune your rifles.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan They will be coming as I get time, my part time job is getting in the way right now.
