Weatherby Accumark Limited 6.5 Wby RPM

I picked up a Weatherby Accumark Limited in 6.5 Wby RPM. I ordered a Leupold VX-5HD Gen2 3-15x44mm Illuminated FireDot Duplex reticle which was on backorder. I mounted a VX-3 2.5-8x36mm that I had laying around. I had picked up dies and brass a while back so I loaded up some Barnes 127 gr LRX and Sierra 140 gr Game Kings with Retumbo.
I was pleasantly surprised to shoot a a pair of .6xx groups!
My buddy dropped off a pound of Ramshot Grand so I loaded up a few . The 140 gr AB went over 3000 fps and a .7xx group. The 140 gr SB went .657" at 3030.7 fps.
I did shoot a late season doe with this load and it's effective. The 150 yard shot was a chip shot for the 6.5 RPM.
The VX-5HD Gen2 arrived this week. I get it mounted and an absolute zero at 200 yards.
MI has extended the late doe season so I'll get the FireDot Duplex reticle on some fur this next week.

The glass is superb and the FireDot jumps out for a quick acquisition. The turrets were responsive and the new lock feature is toolless so no need for a small allen wrench to calibrate the dial.
I'll start getting some serious loads put together and shoot some distance.

2026 is off to a good start.
I must admit the 6.5 Rpm is not a cartridge that comes readily to mind. Something else to think about. Well done!

If I couldn’t get my 30-06 to shoot, the 6.5 RPM was going to be its replacement barrel. I think it is one of the best cartridges introduced in recent times, I just wished brass wasn’t so expensive. You certainly have that rifle dialled and glad to hear the gen 2 Leupold is a good thing.
