Wow! I was up in the Cascades today. Hiked for hours, climbed mighty mountains, trudged through mud, spirited myself through the woods silently... And my reward was this AWESOME buck...

I'll try harder soon...

Guy

Excellent photo, Guy. He may not be a bruiser, but he is a buck. I saw a few mulie bucks today, but no whitetail bucks. First time I've been able to spend the entire day in the field with Noah since immediately before my knee blew out. It was a great day, just as I'm certain it was a great day for you just to be in the mountains.

Its always fun to just get out and see them. Look at the bright side, you didn’t have to pack him out!

Thanks, just a cell-phone photo. Those cameras are getting better.

He was cute, and curious. Stayed with me for quite a while. Pretty funny. Couple of years ago a doe did the same thing. Was up on a high, lonesome ridge, and I think she was just happy to have some company up there. She stuck around for quite a while.

I asked the little buck where "daddy" was hanging out, but he wasn't telling..

Guy, now that you know the family a bit maybe Grandpa will come out & you will get a crack at him :)!
Thank you for the post & photo.

Blessings,
Dan

Nice picture.
I did a snow dance and everything for you but it evidently didn't work.
He'll grow up and maybe be a nice buck someday but not if he keeps posturing out in the open.
Looks like you had a good day out.

We need to see a video of that "snow dance." Maybe it would work in reverse up here! Though we certainly could have used snow much earlier than it appeared this year.

Ah, but the Ohio farmer snow dance is a seldom seen never revealed secret passed down from patriarch to patriarch. To reveal would be to go against strict tradition.
Really you just think good "snow" thoughts and jump around.
Didn't seem to work for Guy so perhaps the validity is in question?

That may account for my lack of results this fall--bum knee prevented jumping. :?

You guys and your snow dance...

Thanks though!

There was ice on the mud puddles this morning...

Guy

Ice is good! Cooler weather is always welcomed when hunting ungulates in the mountains.
