What is your absolute favorite?

Either of those will do, SE, I do like the 280 cartridge. It is just pleasant to load and to shoot.

I can not post a photograph but for right now I would have to take my 35 Whelen made by RMR. It has spoiled me to the point I really don't want to shoot my factory rifles . The trigger is so smooth that I changed my CDL to a Timney before taking it for Whitetail. The Leica glass on top of it is also real nice!

Blessings,
Dan

Here's mine...

Ruger 77 Hawkeye African Blued version in 375 ruger. Has a first gen (made in usa) Burris FFII 3-9X40. Gun is bedded and 3 pound trigger.

I can't find a load it doesn't like, and the 260 accubonds I load for it give me 2850 FPS...

I have shot this rifle at 2 mule deer, 2 elk, and a bear and have 5 DRT kills.

Right now it is my custom LH Rem 700 35 Whelen sitting in a McMillan Edge stock and a Leupold 6x36 in Buris Zee rings. It is nicely accurate, fits me perfectly, weighs only 7.4 lbs ready to go and is powerful enough for anything around here. I do need a trigger job on it or even an after market unit then it will group even better I'm sure.

The Whelen right now is my favorite rifle but the Rem SPS 308 is probably my favorite to shoot. It’s very accurate and easy to shoot. My son shot it a few weeks ago and it put a big smile on his face. This might change when the 260 is done.

Can I narrow it down to three?

My Vanguard in 270 is probably the one bolt action I'd want to be left with if I had to pare down. Very accurate with a B&C stock and Timney trigger. The weight and balance are just right for any day in the field almost anywhere in the world. Working on a friend's Vanguard 270 Wednesday I was jealous of him doing the shooting and not me.

My 257 Wby ULW custom is scary accurate and with its brake is a pleasure to shoot. It's everything I wanted it to be when I bought it.

My 7mm Rem Sendero is also highly accurate and I just love getting behind that rifle and pulling the trigger. From the feel to the accuracy to even the sound it makes it always puts a smile on my face. So, from a shooting perspective it might be number one.

Thankfully I don't have to choose.

Winchester Model 70 Compact 7mm-08. Bought it used from a friend of a friend. The original owner wants it back and I am not looking to sell. Shot two deer in the last two years with it.

Remington SPS-V .204 Ruger, VX3 6.5-20x40, McMillan A3 Sporter. But really, I have a real hankering to grab my Browning Superposed and hit the sporting clays range...

Accurate rifles are always nice to shoot! Something very satisfying about actually hitting the target! Those are nice rifles Screaming Eagle.

Thanks Guy

I would never get rid of my 280. Unless it was to trade Jim for his!

I have two .280s, and I love them both. It would be difficult to imagine begin without a .280.

I don't have a .280 any more but I am not presently hunting. Plus I am happy that our grandson has my .280 Rem Browning and is using it and hunting with it. If I ever get strong enoug to hunt again, I will probably get another .280, although heaven knows, I have enough deer guns to chose from!

One may have enough deer guns, but one can never have too many .280s, Charlie.

I guess mine would have to be the Savage 17 Hornet. What a blast!

17 Hornet does sound fun! Heres the fun one to shoot: Savage 22Mag

With all due respect, Mike, what the hell are you talking about?

:)

May, Kurt, may! I'm speaking theoretically, though I've never approximated such a condition. Actually, I'm nowhere near approaching the asymptote of such a condition.
