What you got for Christmas?

For me Santa never made it.
  1. Additional Information

Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.
Day 3 of delay.
Hope Santa was good to the rest.
Yup, that happens quite frequently here in the North.

It was a very good and a very tough year;
9000 miles pulling the airstream through the southwest and Mexico, home end of march. Not even a flat tire;
Three weeks in South Africa, one missed shot, 10 head of game, actually had a cape buffaloes at 15 feet.
Got sick when we got home; two trips to the E/R, no small feat from where we live, a month apart. Don’t know what’s wrong but not a heart attack. Could have fooled me. Cat scans and MRIs twice did radiological versions so the docs could see better.
July feeling better spent a week in the Eagle cap wilderness with Catherine, knew something was wrong as we came out.
August high fevers and resting heart had gone from 55BBM to 112.
Still know diagnosis, Miocardatia discovered, but it appears to be getting better
More time Radiology, doc said this is very interesting. Every one of your organs shows inflammation. But your blood work is improving. What ever you got you’re winning.
I get a call from CDC, Dude you have Ricketsia. Where did you get it (African spotted tic fever) how long ago were you treated. Got it in May, never got treated. Silence. Then, are you sure. Yep. No one ever prescribed antibiotics? “Nope” Well you’re lucky, untreated it causes organ inflammation and about 25% die from it. About 2 days later I had received a call from every one of my docs. NO kidding Anti inflammatory at the start I would have been out of the woods in 10 days.
Doctors get confused when you remind them they were hired for a reason, now they are fired.
feeling much better now, resting heart down to low 60s but I still go anaerobic to quickly. All my numbers have otherwise returned to normal.
Got a call from my urologist 6 weeks or so ago. I’m 67 a urologist is a regular part of my team now.
Looking over all your labs last summer, no one talk to you about your PSA? Yes, thats why your clerk scheduled an appointment for march. Let’s not wait.
Catherine and I drive to Boise, two days later and a biopsy completed we’re on the way home.
Get the call, No cancer but we do need to keep an eye on your prostate, seems like your african fever had some impact there as well.
Didn’t draw a deer tag
Got my elk
Didn’t go out of state hunting because of Africa
made a trip to Washington, DC
my trophies are on the way
working out every day, getting healthy again
My 300 HH #1 is on the way, probably be here Monday, Catherine was so disappointed, I tell her Santa was very good to me this year.
Merry Christmas everyone

Wow! That is a nasty disease. Glad you're beating it. Merry Christmas and wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Salmon Chaser I'm glad to hear you are recovering You and I have had a rough year but yours has been rougher.
No presents here yet as I still have to go to my daughters for dinner and they usually have something for me or the wife and me.
The wife and I buy for each other threw out the year so we rarely give each other presents at Christmas. Her birthday is just after Christmas and I do get her a birthday present.

Salmon Chaser glad you're doing much better and that 2023 will be less stressful. Me I didn't get any RL26  Dan.

I got both a recurve and compound bow for Christmas! Now I just need to get something to shoot at, he he. I also got a Spyderco Endura pocket knife for myself which I have been eyeballing for 2 years. It went on a rare sale this year so I had to nab one.

I hope you guys get patched up and feeling better . it stinks being sick.

I decided to retire OCT 2021 . by the time I got my schedule cleared it was the end of OCT . mid OCT my blood test showed my PSA level had doubled from the year before . by the end of Nov 2021 it was confirmed I had prostate cancer . at the time they wouldn't operate because of covid being so high . I got in March 29 2022 , and had my prostate robotically removed . I'm doing great , and I'm glad it's over .

Glad you caught It. One of my younger brothers had the same procedure in March also. Dad died with it. Santa brings great gifts sometimes, just as soon not do that biopsy thing again.
Enjoy retirement.

my Dad died from it too , 10/11/2018 . just about 3 years to the day I found out I had it . it was hard on Mom . I'm nagging my son to start getting tested . amen , Santa was good to me . I've told a lot of people , the grass is greener , and the sky is bluer for me since this . the biopsy was embarrassing , and quite uncomfortable . I think he took a 5 gallon bucket in to put the samples in . I'll be thinking of you , hope you get back to normal real soon .
