6.5x47 lapua, in love with this cartridge and never even shot one. Who knows why...

I have a good friend with a custom build rifle in this calibre......truly awesome!
Shilen 24" match barrel, Arnold Jewel trigger, GBR (Rem.700) blue print action, Swaro.Z6 2-12x50 scope & a nicely grained old brush stale from Turkey to mount it all in.
In round numbers, about £6,300 Sterling/$9,500

Short action cartridge, small BR primer, Lapua brass, 6.5x129gn SST bullet & 37gns Rel.15 magical combination clovers every time @ 100yds. Very very impressive.
Neck shoots red hinds @ 200yds+ in Scotland.
Cheers, ET

That is one very awesome rifle! Those 264's are starting to grow on me a bit!

Very handsome rifle. The cartridge is fast becoming a favourite of many people.

Great article Mike. Talk about a useful cartridge too bad most of us have this magnumitis syndrome in the states. Sometimes those old treasures are way more useful than people think. We could name a bunch of those for sure.

It does make a guy want a 9.3 huh! Man, too many choices out there. It is just dizzying at times!

Mine is built on the Model 70. I picked up a 30-06 Sporter last fall and pulled the barrel. Hopefully, we'll have it finished by late spring and in time to work up some loads for the fall.

I think Scotty needs to build a9.3X64 on a Win 70. He doesn't have a custom yet!

Whoa!!! Man, you better watch your tongue MR!..... I don't need more outside pressure... Besides, I have something in the works anyhow!

I'm with nvbroncrider on this issue, Scotty. You need to build a 9.3X64, though if you are recoil shy, a 9.3X62.

Oh so you are picking up that stainless classic in 300 RUM!

Well, after a thoroughly frustrating morning at the range (weather didn't help much), I need to get one of these. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/816462 ... andPopProd

Three of the five rifles I took to the range had reticles that were canted. Grrr. So much for my magic touch getting things square. (Plus, the Remington-branded scope on my 7-08 is a piece of crap. Couldn't even see 7mm bullet holes at 50 yards!)

BK, I use a simple plumb line and cradle for the rifle to get things level. What's been your system up to this point?

Kurt that setup looks slick! I was shooting today as well and had a reticle crooked as well. Nothing more bothersome to this O.C.D. blessed individual

I eyeball my scopes. So far the method has worked pretty well for me. Perfect? I doubt it; but so close that it is virtually impossible that the scope has fouled the shot. However, I do like the kit. It will add a new level of confidence for anyone, I should imagine.

Kurt, after using a set of feeler gauges to mount a scope to a rifle with a rail on it I think I will be putting rails on all my rifles just to save the frustration of mounting a scope any other way! So easy and took me all of five minutes....put feeler gauges between flat base of the scope and the rail, tighten screws and you're done!

MK I Mod 0 eyeball. I did a pretty good job on my last five or six rifles up to this point, but I really screwed the pooch on the last couple I did. (I'm not taking the blame for the Remington.)

I got one of those kits. It works well and allows you to properly torque anything on a rifle. Lapping your rings might make you paranoid after you find a flaw like I did!

Kurt, that kit is THE BEST 100.00 I have spent yet. Being able to know the scopes are plump to the rifle is so easy now and the TQ wrench is a great piece of gear. I use it for the action screws on everything now and no longer kill my scopes with over torquing them. Really is a great piece of gear. With the amount of stocks you swap around, the TQ wrench is worth it.

I actually already have the FAT wrench. And I do use it a fair amount.
