Who's hunting with a lever-action this year?

I don't think my 30-30 is going to Wyoming. But... Am pretty sure I'll be carrying it a bit during general deer season here in Washington. Peep sights and all.

Sighted-in dead on at 100 yard with 170 grain factory ammo.

I've got some timbered areas I prowl every year. The 30-30 will be just fine in that setting. Excellent even!

BTW, the smashed tree in that photo is testimony to the awesome power of the 30-30 soft nose...

I'll be using my 1895 Marlin .45-70, Savage 99EF in .300 Savage to hunt this year!

I had hoped to get my 30-30 out for a late season caribou..mostly for sentimental reasons after I'd already put one or two in the freezer.

But, caribou are scarce enough this year that I'm hauling the .300 instead.

Used my 45/70 on 9/18 for a black bear. Considering it for white tail too.

Nice Michigan!! Any story to go with that picture?

I'll be using the model 71 348, also got my Mom's old model 94 30-30 in the cabinet that needs to get out again, but not sure it will happen this yr as I've got a couple of other older guns I'd like to hunt with.

Any story? :). Always. The short version to not hijack the thread. Saw 5 bears in 4 nights. On the night this one was shot, it was dead silent in the woods. The stand was hung perfectly for a lefty. So I shot left handed. A first with a rifle for me. Used the Barnes TSX HP 300gn. Immediately saw blood.

Love levers.

I did load up 52 rounds of 303 Savage for a friend whose kids are using their great grandfathers savage 99 from 1928. They shot a doe during the youth hunt (last weekend)

I’m going to run the 348 Win this fall for deer hunting up North, especially if I’m going to be in the woods.

Dang, that’s a beautiful rifle!
Thank you. I call her "Cindy," in honor of the lovely Ms. Crawford.

And that is as close as I will ever get to having a date with Cindy Crawford.

Will be using my BLR 308 with Leupold 2.5-8x36 on opening day. This rifle loves 150gr SSTs.

I am carrying my custom Winchester Model 88 in 338 Federal, moose and elk.
Later I will be carrying the Model 88 in 284 Win, and the custom Model 88 in 7mm-08 if it is finished in time, for whitetail and mule deer.

I'll be using my Marlin 1895G 45-70 with a VX-3 1.75-6x32mm scope and loaded up with a Nosler 300 gr BST.
My daughter might be using my Marlin 1894 44 Rem Mag with a VX-3 1.5-5x20mm and shooting a Nosler 240 gr JHP.

I could pick this exact gun up that looks in very good to excellent condition for $450. Good price on that gun?

I don't think it will be ready for this year but going to start working up loads for a Savage 99 in .308.

Typically the best new price is around $600. Looks like a deal.

I think it's terrific that so many of us enjoy using a lever action rifle! (y)

Two years ago I found a 1956 model 94 in .32 special and installed a Lyman Peep. With my 74 year old eyes I can still manage 3-4 inch groups at 100 yards so yes, it is going to Maine with me and hopefully will give me something to talk about.

I’ll be going for black bear in Arizona using my Marlin 45-70, dogs, and horses.
