Why doesn't Nosler HBN Coat Their Bullets?

I currently only use Speer Gold Dot bullets which are HBN (Hexagonal Boron Nitride) coated from the factory. I think their factory HBN coting is more effective than home "do it yourself" methods. And no seating problems like some have reported with home coated bullets.
I combine Gold Dot bullets with powders like Vihtavuori N555 containing decoppering additives to make my life easier when its time to clean the barrel.
On top of almost totally eliminating copper fouling I get:
Reduced friction
Reduced barrel wear
Cold bore shots not deviating from the remainder of the group
Reduced chamber pressure and
Reduced cold welding of bullets to case necks in storage.

When Nosler starts HBN coating their bullets, I'll start using them again.

I’ve dabbled with HBN on several bullets with mixed results. With my 340 Wby the 225gr TTSX works well being coated. However Nosler’s 300gr CC are horrible , galls up seating them. I’ve tried them in several brand of cases and no go , would be easier to drive a nail into a knot in an oak board than seating them.

I coat all my loaded bullets with HBN. I use .5 micron HBN and place small steel BB's in the jar with the bullets. It doesn't hurt the bullets and the steel BB's imbeds the HBN in the jacket surface more efficiently. I get little to no copper fouling, a small boost in velocity, and lower pressures. It's also not messy like other coatings. It works very well for me.

Edit: You have to be consistent with using it. You can't load some with HBN, then load the next firing without it and expect results.

I've had the most benefit with E-Tips. They build pressure quickly and HBN kind of evens that out.

In a way it is. I want more people to use and ask for HBN factory coated bullets so more will be available in more calibers and weights for me. I shoot a 270-08 and want to use 130 gr HBN coated bullets. But Spear only offers 90gr and 115gr in that caliber. I haven't bought a 280 Ackley Improved because Speer doesn't offer ANY Gold Dots in 7mm. I am good to go with 140gr in my 6.5 Creedmoor and 260 Ackley Improved, 150gr in my 308, and 115gr in my 270 AR (necked up 6 GT) and 270 MSR (necked up 6 Norma Dasher.)

Give the Tubbs HBN kit a try. Its inexpensive and a good way to get started. It doesn't have the steel BB's but they are verry cheep on Amazon if you want to use them. It will make a bullet squirt out of your fingers like wet watermelon seed.

I have never used HBN coatings, but I do remember using moly that I coated on Berger 168 VLD a long time ago for my .308 tactical rifle. It shot so good until I sold the rifle. I never used moly again after that, moly is messy and builds up layer over layer in your barrels and it attracts moisture. I did not have the desire to use them again.
My question is,,,does HBN help with 20 shot strings for F Class with consistency / accuracy wise ? I shoot naked Bergers in my 6 BR.
Are those the same coatings that is used on those factory Ballistic Silvertip rifle cartridges?

My 270 AR and 270 MSR are both on AR15 polymer lowers with Geissele SSA-E triggers, 45 deg safeties, and MagPul BAD levers.
Lately I've been switching to Vihtavuori powders. I use N135 in the two AR's. I was using IMR 8208 XBR and Ramshot Big Game.
In the 6.5 CM, 260 AI, and 270-08 I have just switched to N555 from H4350 and Reloader 16. Before anyone says anything derogatory about barrel life with double base N5xx powders, N555 isn't your daddy's double base powder. It is specifically formulated to be lower energy than the other N5xx powders with a combustion temp more in line with the N1xx single base powders. It is specificaly designed to give long barrel life in 6.5 CM and similar cartridges.

The old Winchester Lubalox Ballistic Silvertip coating was a black oxide wax coating. Completely different from the Hexagonal Boron Nittride coating being discussed here. Buy yourself some Speer Gold Dots and give them a whirl.
