...couldn't be a 7mm or .325 WSM???

...LGS just took in a CRF Mod.70 FW .300 WSM/ 90-95%, blueing's like new, a few minor scuffmarks on the stock, hard red rubber recoil pad, owner told me $400 out the door...

for that price you could buy it as a donor and have a quality 7- or 8mm WSM barrel installed!

Maybe it is time to consider that fine donor rifle to build a .35 Sambar, .338/.300 WSM or a 6.5 mm Rock. That is a great price. Consequently, it wouldn't be that bad to build a 7mm WSM with the action.

Yep, I'd think about the .358 WSM/Sambar, myself. No flies on the .300, though.

...got a .300 WSM T3 already, & a .325 Mod.70 that's a push feed in the funky Winchester plastic stock. It shoots fine, but I wouldn't mind upgrading. Got a 7mmRM, too, sure wouldn't mind a 6.5 WSM, but I wouldn't be able to start on anything till next summer, work being slooow & looking to be slooooower over the winter...

...but the FW is damnnearbrandnew & only $400... (beating head against tree)

Careful! The enviromentalists will be after you for tree abuse if you keep hitting it with hard objects

You can't lose any money with that CRF 300WSM for 400. That is a steal to me. I never seem to run across deals like that. Be a nice rifle as is or a helluva building block for your 264WSM. Scotty

I certainly have nothing against duplicates, and it would be a good building block when the money starts coming in again.

Ain't no such thing as too many rifles.

Nothing wrong with the .300 WSM. I have one that throws 190 grain Bergers, very well. I think Guy M. has one that likes 200 grain Accubonds.

The more I learn about the 300 WSM, the more I like it.

I agree, $400 is a decent price for a future project.

$400 for a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in an elk worthy cartridge and it's not yours yet?

Absolutely. Take your time and build one piece by piece.

You will be elated one day when you wake up and have all the pieces you need.

I'd snap that up in a second...what a great all around hunting rifle in a great all around cartridge!

I hated the .300WSM when I got it but I really liked the rifle it was in. 5 years later I love the WSM round and have a couple different ones. The Featherweight would make a great platform for that round.

I know the .300WSM doesn't have the panache of some of those wildcats with 14 numbers and a gun writer in the name but an impressive string of one shot, dead where they stood kills has made me a believer...

Same here. I am looking forward to acquiring a nice 300WSM in the future. Thinking it will be a great cartridge to work with. I love the WSM's. Just a great handloaders set of cartridges. Scotty

Listen to you guys, enabling his RADD. I think if I had the money I would buy it too.

Yup! That pretty well sums up the experience of a lot of us.
