Well I followed the advice of some of you and finally ordered a Wild West trigger for my Pre-64 Marlin lever.

It actually should be here tomorrow. But I figured I'd take the the Marlin apart to clean it up etc.. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the original trigger was a one piece instead of the two piece shown in all the swap out directions I could find on the net.

So I'm hoping that it will still make a big difference in trigger pull. Anyone have any experience with the trigger?

My .444 has a WWG extractor and trigger, they also worked the gun over. It is much better than before, zero grit in the action and an excellent trigger. I really didn't have any extraction issues before, but the Marlin design is easy to break.

I put one in my 1895SBL. The WWW "Happy" trigger is excellent. You'll be happy that you bought one.

The WWG "Happy Trigger" was a must upgrade for my 1895 45-70. It made a huge difference in pull weight and feel. Also put the WWG oversized loop lever and Bear proof extractor in the rifle.

I put one in mine, made a big difference in the trigger pull. Also helped my groups but I still have more load work to do.

Well I received the trigger and it doesn't fit in my pre-64 Marlin. Took it to the gun smith today and he is going to have to do some "fitting" to get it to work. He also told me that you can re-shape the original trigger to do the same thing and get the trigger pull down to 3#.

Hmmm. Live and learn.

When I put one in my 39a and it took it from 8 pounds to just over 2. Going to put one in my 71 336 too.

Final update.

My smith could not get the WW trigger to fit so he called WW in Alaska. After talking to them they wanted pics. After that they said they had never seen anything like that before, maybe they don't come across too many 1952 Marlin 30-30's.

My smith ended up sending the effected parts to Alaska WW for $ 5.50 flat box shipping. A couple of weeks later (today) he called me up and said it was good to go. I gotta say I was shocked. I braced myself...took a deep breath and asked "how much". I'm thinking hundreds (have you seen the prices they charge out of their shop?) The answer "$62.80. "How much?"........"$62.80". Their time plus his time plus shipping etc....

I was amazed to say the least. I don't know what they did, but my smith had to take a little off the back off the trigger guard and it was good to go.

I now have a 2.5# trigger on a 1952 Marlin with no creep or over travel. Thanks to WW Triggers and Steve Williams of UP Hunters Gunsmithing.

I'm thrilled and can't wait to run some Lever Evolutions through it.

That sounds like a pretty good deal, Long. That should be excellent.

Very nice. I have the Happy Trigger in my 45-70 as well. Need one for the 444 too.

Yep, it worked out well. Now to get one that should fit easily in my new Marlin 1895 45-70...the trigger is bad.........
