I am already in mourning its 9 months until bow season, and 10 months until rifle season. I didn't feel good today so I stayed inside and watched TV (a mind altering experience) vaccumed, and washed dishes. At three I couldn't stand it any more I went outside (right after my wife called to insure I was still inside) and road my 4 wheeler in the snow, repaired a set of tire chains I messed up a couple of weeks ago, cleaned my 45 and managed to time it so I was back in the house 10 min before she got home. I wonder if I could kind of freeze myself like a bear until maybe June or July. I would have to get my controlled apps done but my wife could send them in. If I could make it until June, I could resight every thing in again, start my PT get my new arrows and be ready for all of my draw hunts. First I will need to put on some weight, then buy a new freezer, would need a big water bag anddddddddd, hummmm I need to think on this some more. Maybe one of those cyrogenic outfits could help me!!! zzzzzzzzzzzz

Happy Holidays to all.

Went cross-country skiing late morning/early afternoon. Great time, snow falling, woods were absolutely silent. Awesome experience. My fifth ski trip in two weeks. Working a bit on the old Mauser and my Marlin in the evenings.

Have already been heavily looking over the Washington regs for tags and seasons, and had better get a start on the Wyoming regs shortly!

I tried cross country skiing for a while about 10 years ago, I was coming down a hill one day pretty fast leaning into the turn and when I woke up there were 4 or 5 people standing over me wondering if I was all right. Took several days for the bruises to go away along with the pain. Since I quit cross country skiing the pain has not returned. I did snowhoe for a couple of miles up hill in really soft snow on my last elk hunt but didn't particulary like that either. I just might have to take up fishing UGHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Have a great holiday season all!!!

Here is a plan to cut your off time in half....
Buy yourself a 25-06 and work up some loads. Then you could call in some coyotes.
Once spring gets here, put on your camo and grab your shotgun and call in a spring gobbler.

I have a very nice .223 and I was thinking exactly the same thing. At least when I get over whaever it is I have it would keep my busy for a day or so.!!!! I also have an Oregon license and could go over there a couple of days and try some calling.!! These long nights kill me! I have seasonal manic depression.!!

I have done the turkey thing just wasn't my bag. Besides I could snare them in the back yard if I really wanted one.

Elkman, I feel your pain. I live in Wyoming and i discovered that you can get a 2nd elk tag for cows that last untill the end of january. I get real bitchey around then holidays so a little elk hunt here and there helps me and everyone around me alot

Elkman,

Maybe you can hook up with some of the forum members in your area to do some coyote hunting. The 223 Rem should do the trick for ya.

Deer season over? Heck, gotta come out to Va, we can bowhunt till March in some areas!

I am with Jim, you would have a blast hunting and calling coyotes! Besides, it gives you another chance to shoot Bill.... Man, do I need to come out there and give you a hand! Scotty

I still have a chance to try and fill a whitetail tag with my bow until the end of the month. Have not been out after coyotes YET! Am also going to break out the snowshoes and on January 7th on Friday nights at an archery shop here in town, we have a 3D shoot for about an hour or a little longer. Only costs $5.00 and is a lot of fun. This is the traditional league, but they let my son shoot with us with his compound anyway!
