Yeah - if that's a supergrade, I'm not sure I'd pay the freight for that over the regular 70...

The "ONLY" thing it has going for it is that it is a Conn. made and not an FN, for those who care about that. I do not.

I'm quite content with the SC produced rifles. It is a moot point whether I buy the older New Haven rifles or one of the newer SC rifles. The character of the wood is masked by the deep stain toward the butt, but it shows a bit of character. The fore end has little character which detracts from the desirability of the rifle.

Yeah, the wood's a little on the plain side for a Super Grade but it's a handsome rifle nonetheless in its own subdued way. Evidently someone thinks it's worth a lot more than I (and apparently everyone else who's commented so far) do and probably on account of its having been made in New Haven. I'm like DrMike, I think the South Carolina rifles are fine. I think I'd part with about $800, maybe $850 tops for that one if I was in the market for a .264 Mag.

I am with you all, nice wood is well, nice, but it still looks like a sharp rifle and I like the dark wood on it.
