Congrats Jim! Way to go buddy!

Bill, I can't wait to test myself a little in Wyoming. I'm ready to fuel up the truck and start heading west now!

Scotty,

Did you draw a bull or cow tag?

Jim
The Unit I hunt in used to have an Oct 1, first opening date. It was easy to find the elk, they were still making noise. In Oregon I have found them to very vocal in the middle of October. Good luck, I have always wondered about that area.

I drew a cow tag as well. No have a couple of points as well. Maybe a bull tag for next year.

Congratulations guys.
Best of luck to all who drew. May God's blessings be upon you.

Thanks Vince , I'll take all the good luck wishes I can get .

congrats Scotty , and Bill . I hope you guys have a great hunting trip . best of luck to your group .

I know I'm anxious to get going . it's been a few years since I've been elk hunting , and I've never hunted Wyoming . the only time I've been in Wyoming is on my Colorado elk hunts . I-80 to Rawlins (spelling ?) then turn south into Colorado .

Bill , I've wanted to hunt in this area for a long time . I can remember a hunting show on tv ,probably 10 or 15 years ago , and the guys were elk hunting with Bill Perry / thorofare outfitters . this is known as hidden creek outfitters now . man it just looked like a heck of a hunt , and I've wanted in there ever since . I like being in the middle of nowhere , and I'm guessing this is about as good as that gets in the lower 48 . I'll be about 25 miles back in on a horse. I've never been on a horse . I have two customers that are avid horse riders , and both said they would have me riding well for this hunt . I've looked at harvest results for this area , and it looks to have decent success . I talked with Brian , a Cody Wyoming F&G biologist before I committed . he said they bring some nice ones out of there each year .I'm no trophy hunter , I'll be happy with a legal elk . so all I can do is go and hunt hard . I'll be 53 in June if I don't do this hunt soon , I'll never do it .

Scottie where are you hunting?

I believe it is Western Wyoming right along the Idaho border. I'll look it up and pass you the unit. Bill actually knows more about it than me.

My Army buddy drew. General tag. I'm still a WY resident, so I'll get one over the counter. He, another USAF buddy, and I will probably be around area 70 or 71 is late September. I'll get a "resident guide" permit to escort him into a wilderness area.
