Aside from the coating on the XCR, which is a better barrel? Both are 26" and both are 300 magnum calibers.

Thanks

Agreed, likely the same barrel.

I don't intend this to be a Remington downer, as I have a Rem 700 in 30-06 that I am extremely attached to. It's my rifle. There are many like it....

Save your money and get the BDL. If you take care of the stainless the XCR's coatings don't mean much. And all you have to do is run a patch with some oil down the tube when you're done shooting, and wipe the barrel and action clean before you store it in a dry place. No sweat.

But both rifles come with a terrible stock, and you'll likely want to replace it later. So the XCR, which cost you more money, isn't really better. I highly recommend a McMillan stock, if you're into synthetic, but they're pricey. The plastic stock that came with mine changed point of impact depending on method of rest (offhand, pressure below barrel, etc). It was frustrating enough I changed stocks.

Now, if the XCR and the BDL are the same price, I would pick the XCR, just because it's kind of cool. And I would replace the stock anyway. And then I would put a Timney trigger in the thing (assuming it's a hunting rifle), because those things are the heat.

I do not intend to be a wize azz.... however both being remington barrels....good luck and prayers to you.

The parts are probably just fine, but the time and effort to assemble them is somewhat.... variable is a polite way of putting it.
