I know we all have used many different rifles for different animals over several years. That said most of us are usually drawn to a favorite. That one rifle that just fits right and when pulled to the shoulder, it's right there. Then when you pull the trigger it's bang flop.

What is yours?

Two rifles qualify for me, all Winchesters. A Model 94 in 356 just feels right. It seems to find its way to my shoulder without effort and all it has shot has been "Bang! Flop!" The other is a Model 70 chambered in 280. I have never had to pull the trigger twice. It is comfortable to shoot and effective beyond belief. Much as I love other rifles in my safe, these two are favourites nonpareil in my estimate. It would be difficult, if not impossible, for me to choose between these two rifles.

As my signature says; 257 Ackley

Actually your handle says it.

Your signature says Semper Fi!

I know wise buttocks but I could not help it.

Two for me also... Remington Classics in .25-06 and .35 Whelen.

Mine is a push feed 1966 model 70 in 300 Win mag, it wears a Chet Brown stock, 2.5X8 Leupold, a basix trigger and has been blued twice and painted three times. Second is a 1956, 721 remington, now in 35 Whelen, (ER Shaw barrel) with the same stock and the same scope as the Win Mag. It has a standard 700 trigger.

I have one left. 375 RUM LSS. I have lots of rookies in training but I stupidly sold my veterans. Win mod 70 in 300 WBY and Savage 338 Win. stainless with fixed muzzle break and it's twin in 270.

This rifle right here... Rem. 700 Stainless .25-06... it's worn a lot of stocks, a bunch of different glass... and shot a lot of different bullets. But, one thing is constant... this rifle goes up... and stuff goes down.

I have to go with two also, and more than likely a third one when I am able to afford to replace the one I sold.

6mm Remington  in a Ruger #1B, and a 30-06 in a Ruger #1B :!:

The third will be that .280 Remington I need replace :!:

Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in .260 Remington, after that it would be a toss up between my Marlins a .35 Rem or the .45/70 Guide Gun.

A good question.
My favorite is my custom 700 280 AI. Fit and balance is perfect for me.
My favorite caliber is 338 RUM. A flat shooting hard hitting power house. The on game performance is very impressive.

I love/m all, but the versatility of the TC Encore leads as my favorite. Should the need arise, I can take one setup with 2 extra barrels in this double case, to cover most any hunting situation. It would be a toss up on caliber, as there too I like them all. But I would settle with the venerable .30-06 first with the 9.3x74R being a close second.

Two for me. The first one is a Model 700 wearing a McMillan stock in .338RUM. This rifle absolutely loves Elk Hunting. My second go to is a model 700 in 7-08. Light and extremely fast handling for deer.

When it's the 11th hour and no time to mess around, it's the Sako 75 Finnlight / 270WSM. It comes to shoulder with no effort and things just drop after the shot. It's also the one I carry the least, having too much fun setting up and working with other guns.

378 WBY MAG Love it although it hates me as of late.

This .25-06 700 CDL has become my go-to rifle for the past half-dozen years. In five years it brought me five mule deer, best streak I've ever had. Didn't hunt with it this year, and no mule deer. That will teach me! Funny, I actually like it better than my "Green Machine" custom/tactical .308 700. Something about the looks, balance, modest recoil, accuracy and terrific killing power on mule deer and coyotes has really endeared this rifle to me. Love the fixed 6x Leupold too. It's a keeper.

Have several other "favorite" rifles - but that .25-06 takes top prize. The others that I really like are:

.22 Marlin 39A
.375 H&H Ruger Number One (only a year and a half with me, and only one bear, but wow - what a rifle!)
.30-06 M1917
.308 Rem 700 "Green Machine"
.30-30 Marlin 336 w/Williams sight

I don't have just one favorite caliber, but I sure am fond of all 4 of my RUM calibers.

OK so you like RUM derivatives!

Browning A-Bolt, Stainless Stalker, topped with a Stainless Leupold VXII 3-9X40mm, Leupold rings and bases, chambered for .30-06 Springfield...it's my all time favorite, go-to rifle, for just about anything. Granted I have other more specialized rigs, but this one is my fall back, year after year!

Pop I have never shot one of those cannons! I did shoot a 375 H&H which was not bad at all to shoot. I heard the faster velocity of the Weatherby really makes it bite on the back end as well :!:
