I have heard the good bad and ugly about the Kimber 9MM Solo. Now I need somebody who has experience with the Springfield EMP .40. I guess that they are a 1911 Officer's model, 7+1 capacity. They look nice and they seem to cost a bit more than I would expect from Springfield? What is the good, bad and ugly about this gun?

I've never tried that model.

Had a Springfield 1911 in .45 some years back. A good gunsmith made it into a pretty sharp pistol & accurate. I sold it after I got the Kimber.

A year or two after I sold it, the slide cracked! I don't know how that issue was resolved. Springfield may have made it good for him. Or not.

Another buddy carried the Springfield 1911 .45 on duty as an operator with one of the alphabet-soup agencies. It was issued! He liked it so much that he bought his own after retirement. His personal Springfield was a stunning looking handgun and shot wonderfully.

I've only shot mine twice but I have no complaints this far. Seems very well made and shoots like a dream!!
