I have been doing some investigating, and research on the Metro Arms products.
The reason being, that I had an American Classic II about 3 years ago, and I traded it for a vintage Colt .38 Special.
I kick myself for that constantly.
So I found myself having $450 extra last week, and looked at getting another American Classic II. Well, they were out of my price range. But I saw that the Llama's were made now by the Metro Arms Corp, and imported by Eagle Imports.
The written reviews, and video reviews I saw were very impressive. Not anything like the old Spanish made 1911's.
Well, I found one for $420. I snatched it up.
I read that every 1911 they make is hand fitted, from high end down to entry level.
I can attest that the quality of workmanship is way above what the old Llama Spanish made 1911's.
My Llama is considered GI milspec compatible, but it has some custom things to it.
#1 - lowered bevelled ejection port.
#2 - highly polished feed ramp.
#3 - polished, and bevelled throat.
The majority of the parts will swap withactual Colt parts, from what I have read.
Anyway, I hope that everyone can look on Llama's in a better light.

Thank you!
I plan on doing just that in the near future, hopefully.

Do I wish I had more money to have spent, let's say, for a Springfield 1911, or that class of 1911. Yes!
But I believe I did my due dilligence doing my homework, and from past experience with a product from the manufacturer.
You know what, I don´t feel like I settled, or have been slighted in any manner.
The pistol feels great in my hands. It points extremely well. The texture on the grips is quite amazing. Hard wood, comfortable, and yet just enough texture to keep it from slipping in your hands.
The blueing, and the matte finish is outstanding.
I´m happy with it, and can´t wait to shoot it, to see what she is capable of doing.

In my experience, most of the newer 1911 type pistols shoot quite well. CNC machining has helped tremendously I think.

I've shot excellent Ruger, Springfield, Kimber, S&W, Sig, and likely other 1911's that I'm forgetting. All of them shot well. Had a Dan Wesson that was beautiful and accurate but only fed 230 gr hardball reliably, well Federal 230 gr Hydra-Shocks fed pretty good too. Anything else? Nope. And when it got just a bit dirty... It would fail to function. So - that's the only one that didn't do well for me - the next fellow bought it, had a little gunsmithing done and it gobbles up everything now. Sigh... I should have done that with it.
