With crime as rampant as it is I think more and more otherwise legal gun owners will start to employ the Bernard Goetz model. I can’t say that I disagree with them.
I was doing that long before Bernard Goetz did his thing in NYC. My grandmother had a business and she had to make her bank deposits after midnight. The day & night branch of B of A was a two block walk in the heart of San Francisco's tenderloin district. I applied for a CCW because the large amounts of cash she sometimes had to deposit and naturally was denied. I would walk with her to the bank and back with an old Ithaca 1911A1 tucked behind my back under my jacket. Matter of fact I usually had it with me most of the time anyway. San Francisco wasn't the safest of cities to be in even back in the late 50s, early 60s.
