Man, those numbers can't help from turning you away from the 9.3x62.. 2700 with 250's and 2500-2600 for 286's.. Yeah, that is alot of cartridge right there.

Oh, yeah, it could be a real thumper. It looks as if RL17 makes this cartridge come into its own in a big way.

Looking at that data gets the gears turning. How does a 9.3x62 recoil compared to say a 7mm rem mag.

Depending the rifle, the ftlb's might be similar, but I am not sure it would feel as rough as a hard hitting 7mm Rem Mag.. Just my observations though. Medium sized bullets running medium powders don't tend to hurt much, again, just what I feel.

RL17 looks real decent in the Newton as well. Might load up some 225 Sierra's and RL17, just to have something to shoot when I get it scoped.

More of a good thing!

More like a good push on recoil vs a quick thump.
65.5 Rl17 w the 250 works great in mine for accuracy, FWIW.
Fun rifle just need to find something other than a backstop to shoot with it.

Always wondered what the 9.3x62 was capable of in a strong rifle. Let my 700 BDL 35 Whelen go to a friend at work a few years ago. I don't have anything over 30 cal right now. You have got me thinking.

The 9.3X62 is a great cartridge that will handle anything in North America, doing so with aplomb.

My 9.3x62mm Mauser shoots 270gn Speer HotCor bullets @ 2340fps with 63gn of H-4350. That load is sub-MOA @ 100yds, which is way more accurate than what is needed for elk or moose. H-414 did well also with 286gn Hornady Interlocks, but those bullets aren't in production for now so I'm leaning on the Speer's for now.

As of right now my largest caliber is 30 (300 rum) yep I want something bigger do I need it nope but want is more important when it comes to guns  .I'm thinking this spring when the smoke clears from Christmas I might pull the trigger on a new build or buy a factory rifle.

A 9.3 calibre might scratch that itch! The 9.3X62 is a horse, and its available in several fine rifles. It would be a good build, as well. I actually don't own one, but I do own the big brother, a 9.3X64.

I would be careful running those 270gr speers. I found then to be very accurate in my 9.3x62 but the bullet is too soft to handle big game at higher velocities. I would use them on deer but for elk or moose the 286gr nosler Partition is a much better choice.

I had a 270gr Speer completely come apart on a moose neck at 15 yards. I didn't find any parts bigger than a sliver. The 286gr Partition on the other hand has proven extremely effective at 2550fps.
