2025 Hunting Season

Jim your family has had an outstanding bow season. Congrats to the ladies for their buck harvests.
Going to be hard to top this with the upcoming rifle season.

Got out with Susan today for the last day of moose season. Only saw a cow about mid-day.
And just before dark we did locate a mulie buck and was able to stop him with a couple of grunts...but he was just a forkie and not legal. Still have a couple of weeks of deer season left so hopefully we will find a legal deer for her!
At last light on the way out we saw a large lynx too. Pretty cat!
Was pretty windy day so felt fortunate to even see these animals, on the lee side of the mountain or in the thick timber in the lower areas out of the wind. Otherwise it was a fairly sunny day and just nice to be out in the woods!

JD , congrats to you guys , on 3 dandy bucks . Sue's buck weighed 175.44 LBS , is this field dressed weight ?

I have to comment on the wounds these broadheads make , very impressive . I'll be doing some more serious looking at the "sevr " line of broadheads .

2nd whitetail in this season. young buck in driven hunt. Again 150gr AccuBond in 30-06. Self loaded. Also I shoot a wounded nordic moose. I have to put 3 self loaded Norma 13gr Oryx with 30-06 to its shoulder until it get down. Former hunter has shot it in the front leg

Thank you Jim. Sue's buck had a field dressed hang weight of 175.44 lbs. Live weight estimate would be about 220 lbs on the hoof. He was a big deer!
I am very impressed with the Sevr Titanium Hybrid broadheads. They lay down some blood.

Susan and I headed to the mountains today to take our new Ski-Doo (Expedition LE 900 ACE R) for its maiden voyage and see if any mature rams had moved in to breed the local herd of ewes. Lots of tracks but no sightings today.
Lots of caribou tracks too...and did spot one lone bull bedded in the trees down out of the wind. He has already lost one antler.
Was a large set of grizzly boar tracks but were a couple of days old as it had snowed there on Thursday...no sighting of him.
Saw quite a few snowshoe hares today too, but hadn't taken a 22 along.
Was a beautiful sunny day and a great day to be on the mountain!
