    Farewell

This forum is not my cup of tea. Good hunting!

    My new 375 ruger

That looks very much like one of my rifles except for the scope. I have some unsolicited advice concerning the stock. I would bed the recoil lug and make sure the tang has a tiny amount of clearance before shooting a bunch of rounds through the rifle. My first Hawkeye African split the stock...

    Elk hunt?

If you can take some time off before your bull elk adventure, I would highly recommend drawing a cow elk tag and get some DIY exposure to elk country. Cow tags are much less expensive and fairly easy to draw. Even if you do not take a cow on the hunt the learning experience is well worth the...

    Second rifle

A quality .223 would be practical with your other rifles.

    Ideas for new chuck gun

A .25-06 with a good barrel woud do the trick. There are plenty of bullet choices in .257, and the cases are fairly common.

    Synthetic stock?

That would be my pick also if I wanted an aluminum bedding block. I have Medalists on a few rifles and they are very good. I think that this is the stock that Remington's Custom Shop uses now. Even the B&C without the bedding block is a good stock for the price.

    Synthetic stock?

I have switched around a fair few Remington stocks, and actually thought that the Walnut stock was better that the standard factory 700 synthethic. I am a big fan of synthethic stocks, but thought that the factory 700 stock had a bit too much flex unless it was stiffened or at least bedded to...

    Tuffpak sack

I have been using a Tuffpak for some time. After watching me wrestling with loading and unloading it my wife made a bag to fit inside a few years ago. I finally wore out the bag that she had made, and ordered one from Nalpak to fit inside the case. The new bag is just great. It is nylon with...

    African hunters, a question...

I have never hunted the game ranches of South Africa, but I have left boot tracks in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia. For me it is all about the hunt, and not always the measurement of the trophy. On a hunt where I expect to bag an average of one a day it is tough to look for all super heads...

    Hello

I have been stationed near Marines quite a bit. Fun guys, but some of them didn't have what you would call a well developed sense of humor.

How important is an AO to you?

I use a VX III 4.5-14 Duplex without the AO feature on my open country deer/elk rifle (.300WM). Several other rifles that I use have AO, but unless I am target/varmit shooting I end up setting them at 200 and leaving them alone. I get too excited to remember to fool with the AO when there is...

    Rifle bedding

This is the way I bed most rifles. I grind a couple of flats on the sides (at the end) of each bolt after cutting the head off so that the bolts can be moved easily with a wrench. I have bedded quite a few rifles this way with very good results. However, it does not work (at least for me) on...

    Frankfurt day room

I am thinking about getting a day room in Frankfurt this year to get some rest during a long layover. Anyone here ever stay at the hotel attached to the airport? How was it?

    Best $250-400 scope?

Deleted - because I was being just a bit harsh, probably for no good reason.
