    Best Looking Ammo?

Sexy sells. I think that Winchester was onto that when they put those black oxide coated bullets in those shiny nickel cases. I especially like the red tipped CT Accubonds in those cases. Even the black box with the red lettering is nice. If I didn't load my own I'd buy it.

    For Nosler

I'm with you POP. I'm very conservative on my loads and even more so on my shot placement, but I still like to use a premium bullet like what Nosler offers. In fact I get razzed a little by my kinfolk about using premium bullets. My father and grandfather have almost always used what was...

What can you do without? Just for fun.

    338 Federal

I don't think that I would get one either, but I do think that they are going to sell a lot of them.

    55 or 70 gr BT's in .243 for coyote?

personally I like the 70's. They are flat and fast and will likely fly more true than the 55's. Unless, that is, you are going for the 4000fps mark.

    Poll Question????

Did you leave out Taurus on purpose? It is not my fav, but they do make sa/da semis.

    Who manufactures Nosler Brass?

Nosler doesn't have 35 Whelen Brass.

I think that John already covered what needed to be said. Let them squabble, it's what they like to do.

    Barrel Cooling Trick

fandamntastic idea. that one's going in the trick book for sure. The 350 Rem Mag and 45-70 are bound to love that one.

    POWDER SELECTION

Another vote for the Ramshot especially on the small rifle cartridges like the varmint rifle calibers in 223 and 22-250 and the auto pistol carts like the 9mm.

    headspace and primers

you have had primers fall out of loaded, unfired rounds? If so that is surely a sign of worn primer pockets. That's not good. How old is the brass you are using? You may need to toss it all and start fresh.

    22-250 for Mule Deer

That's right, if you poke a hole in them they will die, but I wont use my 22 cal for big game. My dad has taken blacktail with his 22-250, and 60 grain Hornady's. They die just as fast as those that have a 30 cal hole poked in them. I would, however, hate to see what would happen if one used...

Expanding bullets or solids for dangerous game ?

Energy transfer versus hole punching penetration. Penetration is not the key, nor is energy transfer. In most cases we are not talking about one shot instantaneous kills. My understanding is that the solids are so commonly used for their bone crushing power, to immobilize the large African...

    ? for nosler :?:

I stand corrected regarding the Hornady 40gr. The 32 grain is the flat base.

    ? for nosler :?:

You realize of course all of the variables that go into calculation of the bc. That number is only a gross general representation of what the capabilities of the bullet are at a given rate of travel. The Nosler BT is a long skinny pointed tip bullet with a boat tail. Would you not expect it...

    338 Federal

I'm surprised that this wasn't made into a factory load long ago. I think that it would be a great deer/elk combo round for a small person. Shorter action, lighter rifle, and it doesn't knock you on your butt or give you the magnum flinch. To go along with JD338 I would skip the 180's and go...

    reloading nickel-plated case

I have 50 nickel plated Midway stamped 44 Rem Mag cases that have been reloaded umpteen times without issue. I have loaded super light duty Unique loads with cast bullets to hot and heavey Nosler PHG loads for hunting. I also have Remington 30-06 nickel plated brass that has been FL sized...

    reloading nickel-plated case

Rick I think that what Matt was trying to say is that you cannot find premium brass that is nickel plated, not that you cannot find premium ammunition that is not loaded in nickel plated brass. I think that Winchester's loading in nickel plated brass adds to Matt's argument that it is much less...
