Here's a novice question...I just purchased a Hornady Lock-N-Load OAL gauge, and am working on some loads for my .300 RUM. The OAL's that I'm getting for the 200 grain Accubond, and 180 grain Partition are well over the maximum OAL listed for the cartridge, and look to be longer than what my...
The BAR Safari would be my suggestion. My family has shot them for years. IMHO they're by far the most reliable, strongest actioned, accurate, semi-auto made. I have a Safari II in .338 Winchester Magnum, that's never failed me, and is used as my back-up elk rifle. Let us know what you land...
The Barnes #4 Reloading Manual says 3,171 FPS but their test barrel was 24" instead of the 26" tube on the 700...Not sure of the exact velocity without a chronograph.
Thanks, guys. I was starting to get worried that I wouldn't have a load by the April 1st opener.
After a few months of trying countless different loads with multiple bullets, I've finally found a load for the .300 RUM. Seating depth was key...
Tried 165 grain - Partitions, and TSX's, 180 grain - Partitions, Tipped TSX's, GameKings, & DeepCurls, and the 200 grain - Accubond. Even tried a...
Go with the Redfield. You can't beat the scope for the price, it's made in Beaverton, OR (by Leupold), and carries a "forever warranty". I own 15 Leupold's, and now 2 of the new Redfield's - absolutely love them all. You're dealing with the same quality, company, and service, so why not try...
Thanks, Jeff.
Loaded some 120 grain Partitions over 64.0 and 65.0 grains of RL 22.
Also, loaded some 117 grain BTSP Interlocks over 68.0 and 69.0 grains of RL 25. We'll see if there's any promise shortly.
After working out some final loads for the 100 grain TTSX and 115 grain TSX in my Mark V, I'm planning to work with the 120 grain Partition again. I'd like for this to be my go-to bullet, but haven't been able to find the right load yet.
Anyone know the OAL that Nosler uses in their...
I'm getting 1" groups with 165 grain Nosler Partitions and 165 grain Barnes TSX's over 96.0 grains of H1000. OAL on the Partitions is 3.585", and 3.600" with the TSX's.
I'm getting 3/4" groups with 42.0 grains of RL22, 100 grain PTs and 2.570" OAL.
Had some promising starts with 41.5 and 41.7 grains of IMR 4350 and 100 grain PTs as well.
Helping my dad build a load for elk season this year. Would like to use the 225 grain Barnes TSX but open to suggestions. Does anyone have any pet powders and loads for this grain bullet in the .338-378 WBY? Thanks in advance.
Finally put the finishing touches on a load for the .243 Browning A-Bolt. Have it topped with a VXIII 4.5-12X40mm currently, but will be putting the VXII 2-7X33mm back on prior to season.
First load:

180 grain Speer DeepCurl (Bonded)
