Blacktail season in Oregon begins this coming Saturday. The last three years we've had snow and rain...this year it's supposed to be 78 degrees on opening day and dry as a bone. Oh for the snow!

I always carry a back-up, as well as a .410 single shot grouse gun just in case. My back-up rifle is usually buried under multiple other empty and open cases, locked in the truck. You never know when you might need a back-up and I'd much rather be prepared than have to leave early.

We have had great success rattling for blacktails here in Western Oregon. I'd definitely try this method down your way as well.
