    Your special rifle/caliber?

Browning A-Bolt, Stainless Stalker, topped with a Stainless Leupold VXII 3-9X40mm, Leupold rings and bases, chambered for .30-06 Springfield...it's my all time favorite, go-to rifle, for just about anything. Granted I have other more specialized rigs, but this one is my fall back, year after year!

    .300 Ultra Mag - SPS

Just purchased my first Remington in .300 RUM. Definitely a bare bones rifle and scope, but one that's already a real shooter. Topped the rifle with Leupold bases and rings, and a 3-9X40mm Redfield with the Accurange Reticle. All in all, it's a pretty sweet little rig. Did the initial...

    Best reloading manual(s)

I have virtually all of the current major manufacturer's manuals. It's great to be able to cross reference them against one another. That being said, I think the Sierra Manual is the most comprehensive with a ton of good information. It's a little big, but I love the fact that it's in a three...

    .300 Remington Ultra Mag

Thanks for the information guys. Returned from the range this afternoon pretty happy. The 96.0 grains of H-1000 and 165 grain Partitions did pretty well. Especially, out of a gun that hadn't been broken in yet. After initial sight-in I shot two three shot groups. The first measured 0.87"...

    .300 Remington Ultra Mag

Any suggestions for pet loads in the .300 Remington Ultra Mag? I just picked up a new Model 700 today and am interested in loading the 180 grain Partition, and the 180 grain Barnes TTSX. I loaded a bunch of 165 grain Partitions with 96.0 grains of H-1000 for sighting it in tomorrow. I'm...

    2010 Oregon Elk

Thought I'd share a picture from my 2010 Oregon elk hunt. This was a general season, spike only hunt, in a rugged Oregon wilderness area. No ATV's, no guides, just strictly hard work and do it yourself hunting! Shot this bull on the third day of the hunt, at 400+ yards, using a Browning...

    I'm going crazy!

Good luck to you! I'm going crazy as well. My cousin shot a nice 6X6 in the Minam Unit on Thursday...General Second Season opens this coming Saturday. I'll be hunting spikes in the Desolation Unit again this year. To make matters worse, I have to be in Atlanta on Tuesday and...

    Oregon's Blacktail Season

Ended up punching my tag on opening morning! Sitting was the key in the dry/hot conditions that we had. last year's opening day we had 3" of snow on the ground at 5,800 feet...this year, it reached 82 degrees. Shot this 3X3 blacktail at about 8:20 am - 60 yard shot, as he tried to sneak around...

    Oregon's Blacktail Season

Blacktail season in Oregon begins this coming Saturday. The last three years we've had snow and rain...this year it's supposed to be 78 degrees on opening day and dry as a bone. Oh for the snow!

    Backup Rifle

I always carry a back-up, as well as a .410 single shot grouse gun just in case. My back-up rifle is usually buried under multiple other empty and open cases, locked in the truck. You never know when you might need a back-up and I'd much rather be prepared than have to leave early.

    To all blacktail hunters

We have had great success rattling for blacktails here in Western Oregon. I'd definitely try this method down your way as well.
