    22-250 at the Range

I haven’t played with this much. No tack driver loads so far.

    Coyote with the Hawkeye

Was lucky to get a shot after fumbling with the scope. Another one down for the count.

    NW Oregon

Got up on the hill to do some glassing yesterday evening. Just a little video of the typical country in this area. Not much of it is flat. Very unusual to not have some stormy weather at this point so the hunting isn’t all that good. This clear cut hasn’t started growing much feed yet but on a...

    Bog ChairPod

I’ve used a Bog Field Pod for a few years and I’ve had some success out of the blind with it. When I saw the Bog ChairPod for sale on a local site I did a little online research and was happy to be able to purchase it for a fraction of the original price. There were some reviews on line...

    Critters on the homestead.

Some critters moving on the homestead. First bears I got on camera. I’ve shot 4 coyotes this year but there always seems to be more.

    Off the lands bullet seating?

Do any of you have a standard off the lands seating depth that works best for you with a particular bullet? Such as is there a standard setting that works best with Ballistic Tips, Partitions, etc.? Even if it doesn’t always work best is there a particular off the lands setting that you start...

    Nosler Reloading Manual #3

I found four boxes of 7mm 162 grain Nosler Solid Base bullets in my bullet stash. Was glad to find the #3 Nosler manual has load data for them. Also the 150 Solid base data is the same as the Ballistic Tip and Partition data in this manual. At some point I might get around to trying some of...

    Good practice session.

Very impressed here. I’ve got to suspect two rifles with two different triggers add to the challenge also.

    Solid Base at the Range

Trying out some 7mm 150 Grain Solid Base loads in the 280. Nothing spectacular but one load did print under an inch. These are old factory seconds I got a while back. Also included were several boxes of 162 grain Solid Base and 154 Hornady bullets either of which I’ve tried.

    Accubonds at the Range

They used to “help” when they were small. I think their dad recently purchased some equipment but I don’t know if they’ve started using it yet. They’ve moved quite a ways away from us so we don’t see them as often now.

    Accubonds at the Range

I purchased a Savage 6.5 Creedmoor because my Grandsons had got them and I wanted to try some loads out before making them some ammo. No, I wouldn’t win any bench rest or long range contests with these guns but the way I shoot, the best gun in the world wouldn’t get it done anyway. Trying out a...

    Reasons to buy Accubonds again

All I can say is if you miss with that combo, it’ll be on you. I don’t think you could expect better results than that.

    Ballistic Tips at the Range

Got to the bench this afternoon with the 7mm-08 and some Nosler Ballistic Tip ammo I’d loaded in 2018. I think I got lucky with the 120‘s as I thought I’d pulled one to the right out of the group. I think it looks better on paper than what I was actually shooting. The sun came out from behind...

    Black Bear Attack

Got the first bear I’ve seen at the homestead on camera the other day. Big blackberry patch up that way. It’s easy to get lackadaisical. Until I put the game cameras up I had no idea how much activity there is on the place.

    Grandsons did well

I wasn’t along on the trip but the Grandsons scored a couple of good bucks on their hunting trip to Eastern Oregon. Asa says he shot his buck (the three point) with his 6.5 Creedmoor and a 140 grain Nosler Accubond I had loaded for him. I think Gus was shooting a 300 Win Mag but I’m not sure...

    Noslers at the range.

Sighting in the 280 with some Nosler hand loads. They don’t always go in the same hole.

    Sometimes not too hot works

Trying out a couple of old loads with the Pre 64 30-06. The 180 Accubonds were a special run by Nosler years ago that actually have a hunter orange tip that shows up red in the photo. These actually shot decent in another rifle. A little hotter load that didn’t do well in this one. 165...

    New shooting range

This was spur of the moment but when I saw this shooting bench for sale for $60 a short distance from home I decided I could get some use out of it. Put a coat of paint on it and set it up in the back yard close to the house. Should be convenient when working up loads. I think the lumber would...
