Mixing brass is not a big deal as long as you understand that some of what you have is military brass.
I just finished loading 700 rds of 223 using new Winchester brass. This was part of a bulk purchase I made from my LGS of 3100+ cases. I had to sort the civilian brass from the military...
One trick I use when loading 223.... especially with 55 grainers..... is I return to MilSpec MV.
As Per Ye Old GuideBook For Marines.... the muzzle velocity of ammo used in the M16A1 was 3250 fps.
I'm trying Alliant AR Comp since CFE 223 has gotten rare around here and I'm saving my BL-C(2)...
I have 2 40's..... both Sigs....a 229 and a 239.
I prefer Universal.... it's fast and clean.
I load 155 grain Hornady XTP's for serious business.... and 140 grain HardCast Round Nose Flat Points for the fun and games time.
I have a nephew that is a LEO..... according to him... the Hornady Critical Defense ammo is awesome. Based upon visual exams of morons trying to rob a gentlemen inside his home.
They had to be bagged and tagged.
I'm looking real hard at the Sig 1911's.....
I've retired my Remington-Rand and would like another 1911.
I have 3 Sigs now and looking at another (P229)....... but like the solid performance in a Sig and figure they put that same quality in the 1911.
Just my $.03 cents worth.......keep the...
Just received a Smith & Wesson 44 Hand-Eject, aka Pre-Model 24 44 Special.
Got this from a retired S&W Employee whom I call a friend.
The Production Date on this revolver is 1925 and it is well worn from carry, yet still solid as a rock.
This is the only 44 caliber firearm in my collection...
My 336 Marlin in 35 Remington has a Williams Firesight on front and a Williams Ghost Ring on back.
Being diabetic, my eyesight varies from day to day, but that sight works great.
And zero'd for 75 yards for the terrian I hunt in with it.....point of aim, point of impact.

You certainly know how to open a can of worms with this subject. ;)
I was talking with a LEO friend the other day....he said that in a discussion with a ParaMedic a few nights earlier, he was told that a victim had been shot with Hornady's Critical Defense 9mm. Entry was normal, but...
My own take on this situation is that I would take whatever projectile launcher my Grandfather granted me. And cherish it till it is passed down to one of my children.
I have my Father's shotgun and one of my Uncle's shotgun. My family knows they are never to be sold.
Just my $.03 cents...
If all things being equal..... no changes needed as long as you are not changing stocks.

If I can find it.... I have apicture of a couple old Texas cowboys roping a deer back in the late 50's.... I'm a good friend with one of the cowboy's son...
He said roping the deer was simple..... getting the rope off was a problem... he never went into real depth on the problems...
Just starting to reload 223/5.56 and was going to use CFE223 based upon what reports from other shooters have said about the powder.
Sadly.... it has become very hard to find locally.
But I have located Alliant's AR-Comp powder. And did buy 2 pounds of it just in case.
Now....has anyone used...
