Congrats on the meat in the freezer. Looks like good eating!
The more I think about it the more perfect the 7-08 seems as a "one rifle for everything" rig.
This is close to one of my wintertime sanity projects; the 208 gr AMax in my Vangard. Thinking something slower than the 7828SSC I used on 155s; maybe RL-25 or -26? H-1000? Retumbo?
Anybody have an idea of the best place to start?
Wow some of the easiest bullets I've ever worked with accuracy-wise; Australian Copper Projectiles 155 gr Sidewinder:

Dr Mike thank you very much!
I am excited to report that I FINALLY took this recently-completed rifle to the range yesterday & my first two 3-shot groups at 100 yds were about 1.25" w/ factory 180 gr loads. This data will give me what I need to get a deer load worked up and be ready to hammer...
Even if it's true about the polymer in the tips it doesn't matter to 99.999999999% of hunters anyway. At the 400 yds & shorter, the melt doesn't matter for Jack.
That having been said I like the overall idea. I'll definitely try em.
Sounds like a blast to me!
Don't forget to bring a good camera and use it a lot!
Good luck! I love the r&or that comes when I don't have the filling of a tag weighing on me.
Wow man that is a fantastic adventure right there!
How long did it take to draw the tag? Is there a particular reason you chose NM as the destination?
You're hard core man; such an awesome adventure!
90 gr NBT from 6-250 @ 3k from muzzle. Love that bullet in this rifle; buddy shot his first public land deer w/ it and my 10 yo got 2 Texas boar in Jan but this was my first big game animal with it:
What happened next was really awesome. Sheldon and I dropped Andy to get his second doe and...
Gunnar,
Best of luck to you! I am on my way right now to the Lusk, Wy area... Just west of Omaha as I type... Doing the same thing!
Pronghorn are an absolute hoot! You're sure to love it!
Looking forward to pics,
