Yeah thats why I am only interested in the shorter cylinder calibers. The 45/70, 30/30, 500 s&w, 460 s&w, etc are just awkward to me. I like the 500jrh and would also consider 475 linebaugh although would have to special order the 475 to get a 5.5" barrel.
Anyone have any experience with BFR. I am considering ordering one. Looking for a good woods gun, hand cannon, make noise at the range. Am looking at 5.5" .500 jrh.
Ive been shooting Beretta autos for years. Soft shooting gas guns and they just plain run. I have a 30" synthetic A390 that is going on 2500 rounds between proper cleanings. I dont usually abuse guns but now I am very curious to see how many rounds it will take to stop it.
I am biased towards the Beretta line of semi autos. They are gas operated guns. Supposedly you are supposed to keep them clean but well... I have a 390 synthetic with a 30" barrel. I use it for everything. Ducks, geese, bunnies, sporting clays, skeet, and crows. I throw a saddle mount with...
About 10 years ago I was into skeet and sporting clays pretty heavy. Shooting 400-500 shells a month. For a few reasons I had gotten out of it, busy at work, other hobbies, etc. I sold my target guns to fund rifles and pistols. I still hit the skeet field occasionally with my other guns but...
Finally got a day off without monsoon rains or 60mph wind. Decided it was a good time to see what my TC Encore in .243 would do. Don't have components or dies yet so am shooting some factory stuff I ordered online. The first load is Federal gray box 100gr soft point. The other load I got...
I just received part of my new summer/fall project today. Always wanted an Encore pistol so I ordered a stainless/syn frame and a stainless fluted 15" barrel in .243 win. I will eventually have several barrels. The reason I went with a .243 is that I have never owned anything in that bore...
I have never owned one but have shot friend's rifles and a few people at ranges have let me shoot them. I always thought they were classy rifles. I missed out on a chance to buy a SS/Laminate in .300 win mag and always regretted not getting that rifle.
Finally had a Saturday off that wasnt freezing cold or crazy windy. Decided to head to the range to shoot my BLR in 308 and also my Ruger SBH Hunter in 45lc. I had a box and a half of some Double Tap .45lc 300 grain @ 1300 I wanted to blast since I have found a more accurate hunting load. I...
Will be using 3 guns for deer this year...
1. Winchester M70 Extreme Weather in 7wsm shooting 160gr accubonds at 3100 fps
2. Browning BLR in .308 shooting Hornady 150gr SST factory load
3. Ruger Super Redhawk Hunter in .45LC shooting Buffalo Bore factory 260gr at 1450 fps
September doves in Indiana
September geese in Michigan
October pheasants/ducks in North Dakota
November rifle season deer in Michigan
December muzzle loader in Michigan
January to March bunnies in Michigan
I have had one since 1999. Its a P226.
Crazy accurate. It likes most ammo but loves Speer Gold Dots. Its my most carried pistol. Never had a FTF or a hiccup of any sort. I stocked up on some Speer FMJ target loads about a year ago thankfully. Ammo is not easy to find.
Finally had a day to hit the range and shoot my new huntin pistol.
I had ordered some Doubletap .45 colt +P loads to play with. They are 300 gr bonded JSP at 1300 fps. I shot at 25 to confirm my scope was on, then moved to 50. This was off a rest at 50 yds. I should be able to kill a 120...
Several years ago I made a grave mistake that I still regret today- I sold my hunting revolver. It was a 8" Colt Anaconda in .44 mag. It wore a 2x Leupold. I killed several deer with it and like a lot of people on here, sold a gun I shouldnt have. Anyway through the years I have been...
