I have a Winchester .356 Big Bore for sale or trade...
This was a one year (centennial) run of these and is stamped 1894-1994 on the side plate. It has DLX wood and has been fired but very few times. The original owner put a new 4X Weaver scope on it but enclosed the original iron sights. I also...

This is a whitetail deer load... I shot a 0.255" group Thursday! 8)
Longwinters and sons have had great success on...
Glue, clamp, wait...Glue, clamp, wait...Glue, clamp, wait...
Waaalll Long...I do have a few brass and some 150gr PTs and Accubonds....but them darn 165gr Interlocksi DONT have... I will have to try a 150gr NPT load... :P
I took a ride with Longwinters today...really to sight in his new purty CZ .22 rifle... 8) I brought along a (1957) .308 L57 Sako Dlx Hunter that I picked up over the winter to put a few rounds through...
Waaalll we stopped by the gunshop first...and there sits a new gorgeous Icon... and (of...
I have been looking for just the right rifle in .308 for awhile... Compact, wood stock, but I know its got to be a tackdriver too!
I have been watching a rifle for over a year in the Green Bay, WI Gander Mountain store... 8)
It appeared to be a custom rifle built on a Sako action, gorgeous...
I will echo Long's post... 8)
I have had Sako 75s in;
.300 Wby (MOA)
.300 WSM (MOA)
.7MM Rem Mag (sub MOA)
.7MM STW (sub MOA)
.270 WSM (MOA)
.308 Win (sub MOA)
.270 Win (Grey Wolf) the best! shot sub 0.025" groups with several different recipes...
I just cannot afford them anymore...
OK...There is a very nice used custom rig in a gunshop I have been oogling... :P
It is a older SAKO action...high lustre blue nearly 100% 8) chambered in .308 Win. It has a 20" Douglas Barrel...about a #3 Contour (matching blue (100%)
The stock is a Wby Crown look a like with gorgeous...
Yup...I have the T-3 .243 in Stainless with a 6.5X20X40 on her. Mine is more of a coyote riflle set up (scope) but deer will fall to this rifle with aplomb!
I won't disagree Big Squeeze... I've had a Browning Micro Medallion 7mm08, a Ruger Compact 30.06, Remington Model 7s in .308 and also .300SAUM.
I love to reload and shoot off the bench as well as hunt... So since I can no longer afford to own several rifles, here is my plan...
Long range...
How is the muzzle jump on those? I had a Rem Mod 7 in .308 with a 20" bbl and the muzzle would "lift" 6-8" up off the shooting bag with each shot...
I would imaging a 16.5" bbl would be like shooting one of my Encores?
Still primarily looking for a thick cover whitetail rifle...I do have a shotgun that I can grab for tracking dangerous wounded critters with....00 Buckshot is a great close range equalizer...
1) The .308 is fine with 180gr bullets... back up for my Bear guiding archery clients when tracking...
2) I need lots (4.0)" of eye relief....thats why I chose .308 over 30.06... short action baby! :P
3) all I have left is my .280 LSS, Tikka .243, and the Cenntennial Mod 94 in .356 Winny...
Hmmmmmmm.....
Now you got me thinking bolt action again JD.... Maybe a Browning A Bolt? I want a wood stock...Rem does not make the BDL or CDL in .308 anymore...Not sure how well the Rem 798 would be?
A Ruger MK II may be a possibility...again needing a trigger...
HELP!!!!
Here's my 7MM08 100yd group with 48.5gr of H 4350 and 140gr Nosler Solid Base bullets...the 140gr Accubonds shot just as well...
You (she) will love the 7MM08 and the Remmy rifle!
I have been wanting a close cover, fast handling .308 for my Upper Peninsula Cedar swamp/thicket terrain...
I am leaning toward a new 7600 as I cannot find a good used one...anyone have any experience or info on how well the new models shoot? I wonder how the trigger would be? and if the...
