We may have a winner with this new, to me, 7mm-08. I started working on some loads and ran up to the range tonight to fire some off. I started with 44.5 grains of IMR 4350 and a 140 grain AccuBond. Once I got on paper, bore sighting never quite works for me, I was able to shoot a couple of 7/8ths inch groups. The last two groups were both that size, one with 46 grains and the other with a heated up barrel and 44.5 grains. I was pretty damn happy with that thin, 18.5 inch barrel. I will have to head back out and reconfirm my results.

Sounds like you have a shooter. Keep us posted with your range results.

Big Squeeze, it is a youth model Reminton with a synthetic stock. I recently traded a .30-06 for it in a local gun store. It's not like I needed another gun, but I'm sure my daughters will appreciate it someday.

Here's my 7MM08 100yd group with 48.5gr of H 4350 and 140gr Nosler Solid Base bullets...the 140gr Accubonds shot just as well...
You (she) will love the 7MM08 and the Remmy rifle!

lefty,

Congrats on getting out and shooting it ! Play with the OAL a bit and keep us posted. Those little 7's are awesome little guns.

Lefty!.................You know me when it comes to the compacts!!...You don`t necessarily need to be a YOUTH to enjoy them!!...........7/08 is a great choice for you?? OOOPS! Your daughter!!!

I did a little more shooting yesterday. 46.5 grains of IMR 4350 gave me a 4 shot group right at one inch. If I tossed out the farthest hole, 3 shots were 9/16ths of an inch. Velocity on a 38 degree day was in the high 2600's not quite 2700 fps. I may try to get to 2700 and then mess with the seating depth to fine tune things. I might wait until summer, just to see what happens when the mercury rises.

Sounds like you have your load. Congratulations.
