    300 H&H magnum brass

Sorry to hear that. Especially since I only have 50 pieces for my grandfather's rifle. Guess we will be waiting on nosler together. It is a shame that a cartrige that is the parent of the modern magnums is now out of production. Especially when it is so efficient with today's slow poders.

    300 H&H magnum brass

That was nosler. Also, if you can't wait? You can dig on the internet. Winchester produces 300H&H but it is seasonal and when stocks are gone they are hard to find. I have had a heck of a time finding it but this is the right time of the year. Have you checked www.midwayusa.com ?

    Taurus Polymer

I just wanted to check the opinions on this board as so far I have found this to be the most sensible group of gun enthusiasts going. I have found that taurus's new polymer pistols are absolutely amazing regardless of the negative internet postings. I first purchased a pt-745 after several...

+P Ammo in Polymer Framed 45 ACP?

Not really sure if there is a need for a +P but if you must have one, all Taurus autos are rated for +P ammo.

    270 WSM 130gr. bullet speed?

Never fired it with the cheap scope and mounts. Mine wears a NC Star Mark III 10-40X50 in Leopold dual dovetails and 30mm rings. I know sounds cheap, but they have worked great for me. My 270 WSM is in my handmade wood stock and I loaded up a quick batch of 130g Hornady SST's with 66.0 g of RL...

Need a newer small caliber. Any ideas?

Of your choices go with the 243. It is a great all around caliber. It does require one to think about what they are shooting and shot placement. But, if you are replacing a 22-250 this should not be a problem. It also has the best over the counter apeal and rifle selection.

    270 WSM 130gr. bullet speed?

Glad to see you are coming around. Now all we have to do is convince you to buy a WSM. I guarantee they are the best wal-mart rifles in existance. $398 with a scope(cheap simmons) and will shoot under 0.5 MOA (the few that I have seen) I own 2. Try one pick your caliber and enjoy.

    270 WSM 130gr. bullet speed?

That makes a lot of sense, and I have read Simpson's article. The only increases above factory velocities is going to be with new powders such as MagPro and Retumbo. Which I might add, check the MagPro 270 win if you own one. You can get a lot more velocity. Still over 150 below the same powder...

    Nosler BT good for hunting???

Black bear and moose are hardly thick skinned game. The 150 g would not be a light for caliber in 7mm mag. Therefore, I would not hesitate. I shoot exclusively 165 g BT in my 300WSM all of the deer have been one shot kills with exits. I will let you know about the mushrooming as soon as I...

    270 WSM 130gr. bullet speed?

I agree to each his own. I was just saying what published reloading data with pressure reportings, which you can find in Lyman's 48th edition, shows (150-200fps). In my mind that is not much, and the article you quote is correct a lot of this is due to the rifles having a 24 inch tube instead of...

    Short barreled .308???

You will want to stick to the Varget or a similar powder. IE you should use w748 instead of w760. You want a faster powder with that short barrel. I would expect approximately 100 fps greater velocities than the loads for a 15 inch barrell. In addition I would use the Hornady data for the encore...

    270 WSM 130gr. bullet speed?

SOTN, I have read your whole series and I am not sure what you are saying. If you are trying to say there is little advantage over the standard 270 all you have to do is pick up any reloading manual. They all say that the 270 WSM will produce 150-200 FPS over the 270. You are correct that the...

.300wsm loads for the 150 and 165gr. Accubond

With all bullet weights, I have found W760 to be the most accurate in the 300WSM or at least in mine. Hornady found the same when they done their initial testing. Also, it is my understanding that this it the closest powder available to the reloader to what winchester uses in their factory...

    Tasco/ Varmint rifle scope

I know a guy that had a problem with his 6-24. It was fuzzy over 200 yards. He took it back they gave him a new one and no problem. By the way for the record they manufacture the tasco and bushnell now, so you might think. You could have replaced with a mark III instead of the economy you had...

    Tasco/ Varmint rifle scope

I have had a couple. They could be better. If you are in to saving some money and want good optics try the mark III line from NCStar. I have a 10-40/50 (187.50 with a lifetime over the counter warranty) and really like it. The optics are as good as anything I have shot other than one Springfield...

    Another good performance from BT

I am planning on acquiring one soon. I have just never had a complete need. I have always been after accuracy above velocity. My load though appearing according to the above simulation to be hot, is actually rather mild in recoil and makes one hole groups at 100. That is why I use it not because...
