120gr Speer SBT

No they dont. If I stay around the shoulder I dont usually get an exit. What I do get is massive internal damage. I like
the high over the shoulder shot were the shock wave runs up into the spine, giving those hit with a lightning bolt results and zero suffering for the animal. I do get exits on lung shots, if it doesnt pick up a rib and the exit holes are messy. I rarely ever have them take a step when I have time to place the bullet properly.........we have come to have 110% confidence in the SSTs on Deer.

They sound pretty good E. I used a 308 Win with a 150 SST on a black bear and a few deer before I knew they were soft and they seemed to work pretty well. All of those blew right on through which if I had listened to the internet I would have never believed. They were pretty moderate loads though, I think they were cracking around 2850, so pretty moderate speed really..

Well " soft " is a relative term and in my experence with them and watching our clients whack deer and black bears with them , they have worked flawlessly. So if that is
"Soft" then I guess we love how soft works on game!
So much so we recomend them in the Superformance brand of ammo pretty much exclusively for game up to 350lbs nowadays.
There is probably more inaccurate info on the Hornady SST on the internet ,as I have ever run into on any one bullet. It is in fact; one of the finest Bullets we ever witnessed on deer ;if instantanious kills are a high
Priority. This popular myth at the moment that you may
Have trouble dispatching a porkypine ,unless you spend atleast $50 for a box, for a bonded or premium bullet of some flavor to be certain of a kill : Is compleate horsedung to me.
Folks get very Chevy n Fordish about bullets ;but it absolutely
Cracks me up to listen to some of the advise, that gets passed around ,when you ask about the actual hunting experence they have to back up these opinions......
95% of the time ,the conversation imeadiately gets changed back ; to how great said bullet shoots a piece of paper ???
Or how their friend once shot a cow elk with said bullet ,or something about milk jugs...........
And way to often, the ones with the staunches opinions, seam to have the least amount of practical experence, to reinforce all the claims they are expounding......
It gets tough to respect someones point of veiw, when you find out they are recommending their favorite bullet ,to someone that is planing a $15,000 hunt for multiple species, and the other person keeps recomending his personal favorite ??? And he has only killed two doe deer, a rabbit and one bluejay????_ And the fact that they shoot " awful good" in his gun! Omg
I often feel like adding this at the end of the post...AwJeezNotThisSheetAgain1.jpg[attachment=0]
