This is what a 150g combined tech btip looks like after going through about 8-10" of newspaper at 50 yards or 100 yards, either way, impact veloctiy was at least 300-400fps higher then the 30-06. The bullets were fired out of my 300 RUM, with a muzzle velocity of 3650fps. So thats what, 650fps faster then a 30-06 spits them out. Ok, now we can all agree that a combined tech is nothing more then a btip with coating, right? Well, these 3 bullets weigh 71, 75, and 80g respectively. I just find it very very hard to believe ones story on the 150g btip only going through 1.5" of newspaper and finding the biggest piece weighing 26g, when my RUM spits the bullet out a hell ofa lot faster, and the bullet held up 3x as good. Now if I remember right, velocity works against weight retention, so by all means my 150g btip shoulda pretty much exploded since it was impacting at a much higher velocity, right? I never called anyone a liar outright, but just find it very hard to believe that the bullet lost that much weight when it was fired 650fps slower to begin with, and still blew up so much worse. I got the pics to back it up, and the bullets look like every other btip i have recovered, they lost there inner core and thats it. Weights retention is anywhere from 40-50% See for yourself. Since a select few seem to be giving me shit about a lot of stuff, (particularly about long range hunting) I figure I can take it, dish it out, and back it up.

Rem Man,

Those BT's look pretty good!
I personally have never had any problems with the BT. I have taken several WT Deer and a couple of Bull Caribou with the 140 gr BT from a 280 Rem. All were one shot kills. Only recovered 1 bullet from a WT, 150 yds quarting towards me, entered through the left shooulder and was under the hide on the right side at the back of the rib cage. The jacket and core had seperated but were togetherup against the hide.

Dude. You have got to learn how to re-size your photos!

JD, yah btips have always worked for me, they may not hold toger ther the best, but for deer, who needs a bonded or Partition for deer?? Deer bullets are suppose to be quick expanding bullets first, then penetration, to some degree. I"m sure someones gonna quote me on that. For elk, you need penetration then adequate expansion. Thats why btips are the best deer bullet, yah they may lose there cores, but every non bonded standard type bullet lose there core. They may give you a little more bloodshot meat, but I always thought that some meat was better then no meat at all. Hell my buddy shot one of his 40g btips out of his 22-250 into the newspaper and it went farther then 1.5", granted there was nothing but the base of the bullet left, but it went about 4".

Sorry POP, maybe I can have my g/f show me how to resize my photos. Ha ha, they are quite big aren't they. I dont know why there also so big like that, maybe I just wanted you guys to see this up close.

Rem Man,

I am at that age where bigger print is becoming more helpful!

Thankyou for showing proof of this. I have heard more stories of exploded bullets and no penetration than I care to.
