Lined up 6 milk jugs tonight at 20 yards and let her rip with the 7 RUM/160 AB at 3275fps.

Found the 160 AB in 5th jug, weighed 89g, and expanded to .6" so that makes it 55% retained weight.

Pretty much IDENTICAL results I got from the 7 RM/162 SST at 2950fps at 25 yards. Bullet also went to 5th jug and weighed 88g.

That is pretty serious performance. It is the same results I got with the 7WSM and 160 AB at 3100. It is a brutal test on any bullet. Awesome performance for sure.

Jorey,

That is a brutal test on any bullet when it slams into the jugs at 3300 fps.
Post a picture of the recovered bullets.

I recovered a 160 gr AB from a 7 RUM at 300 yds, it was a picture perfect mushroom. My daughter's BF took it home with him so I never got a picture of it.

I guess it's written somewhere, but what is the minimum velocity on the 160AB needed to expand properly?

I think it is 1800FPS Jim. At least what Nosler tells us.

Jim,

Scotty is right, 1800 fps min impact velocity.
If it were me, I would put low impact velocity bullets into the shoulder to help initiate expansion.
