thats tennessee hot till october ... most christmas dinners i wear a t-shirt
both shot out of a ground blind the 1st at 100 yards the 2nd at 412 yards .. both shot off polecat bipod shooting sticks
I wear a Tee shirt at Christmas as well ... only, not outside. I do remember TN fondly, having pipelined through KY and TN when fresh out of high school. Lovely state. And those are some fine looking deer you took.
Thx
yeah buddy that 30-378 Is a bad motor scooter for sure ..
I have a buddy that has shot one for over 10 years and gave me his pet load of 108 gn of retumbo and a 180gn nosler BT .. so I started at 103 and worked up the ladder moved the OAL to mag length but I got a semi stiff bolt at 106.5 gn but shot a .643 3 shot group at 100 yards @ 3370fps so I stopped there lol .. hunted that load for 2 years and took 4 deer that all fell in their tracks at ranges of 100 and 225 and 350 and 412 yards .. iI also played with rl25 and got a .8xx 3 shot group .. its just too expensive for this ol country boy to shoot at $80 a box of 20 brass and $150 a box of 20 factory ammo .. so I picked up a Browning AB3 300wm with a 26in barrel and got 100 new brass for $82 bucks so I'll get to play around with this gun Alot more ..
here is 2013s 10pt
Another lovely specimen. Yeah, the big fire-breathers consume a LOT of powder; and that can get pricey in a big hurry. They are generally accurate, though.
Sue took her first crop damage deer with her Nosler M48 280 AI loaded up with a 140 gr BT at 3180 fps at 250 yds. Perfect lung shot put the doe down quickly. She still has beans in her mouth!
Another crop damage kill for Sue, this time at 385 yards.
Rifle is a Nosler M48 280AI topped off with a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40mm with CDS dial and loaded up
with a 140 gr BT at 3180 fps.
Opening day cow in a spike bull orcow only unit. Passed six cows and calves before this loner came along. Shot was thirty yards and made my first ever honest to goodness heart shit with my bow. She ran about 65 yards and toppled. I shoot a Hoyt vectix bow at 70 pounds and carbon express hunter 450 arrows with 125 gr slick trick four blade broadheads. This is a new arrow set up for me, finally moving away from aluminum. My current rig is 150 grains light than the old ones, faster and possiy more accurate. At thirty yards I expected a pass through, but after going through some dense heart and breaking a ribbon the far side, it lacked energy to break through the skin and bounced back into the chest. End result is everything and tough to complain about this one!
