Congratulations to your daughter, fwood. That is an amazing deer. Sounds as if she remained cool and collected when she needed to be. The evidence of her prowess is the amazing deer she tagged.

Thousands of 22lr and 223 at the range and the odd squirrels and grouse hooked her.

Thanks Mike I could not be prouder of her. We watched it slipping through the pines and I cold barley contain my self. I did not want to let on how big this thing was she really did a great job I wish I had her happy dance on video as she was jumping around saying I got him.

Dropped this 5x6 whitetail at 0830 on the opening morning of Nebraska's rifle season...452 yards. I think I rushed it so the first shot hit the back end. I walked to down to the creek bottom to get an eyeball on him and finished him off with one in the shoulder at about 100 yds. He had almost no teeth so I think he was fairly old...he needed to be culled.

Had 2 more running around the same pasture that dwarfed this one but couldn't get a shot on them. Hopefully they make it through til next season.

You did well on that deer. He may have been old, but no doubt he needed to be culled.

Great bucks! Congrats on them!

Very cool to see those being taken by the younger hunters.

Chuck, I dig your sons rifle... that rifle has a great track record.

That's some full freezers Scotty, congrats. You didn't spread the wealth with your other rifles huh?

Looks like your getting the hang of that elk killing thing  . Pretty soon you'll be following Bill to 3 states in 1 year  .

Couple of fine elk, Scotty. Either will be mighty tasty! Congratulations on both!

Elk don't usually worry too much about humans. Once the season starts an old bull will gaze down the mountain onto human camps and see who is there. If a bunch of guys sporting new shiny rifles all he need do is head into the thick steep stuff and wait it out. If on the other hand one hunter is about 6'4", bearded like old squatch himself, sports a Model 70 and smells of rotten spider monkey then that bull is in trouble! 8)
