2016 Hunting Pictures

Congratulations Scotty. Looks like you will be buying a new freezer for all that meat. Well done.

Well, it wasn't the nice 11 pt. I had hoped to get a shot at, but it was getting a little late in the season and time to start thinking about putting meat in the freezer. When this fellow walked in front of me at about 40 yards, it was hard to look a gift deer in the mouth. The 150 gr Nosler Partition load that I had worked up performed perfectly. Bullet entered just behind the front leg, nicked the heart, turned everything around it to jelly, and exited on the far side. No meat damage at all. He went about 35 yards or so, stopped, swayed, gave a little grunt, and then toppled over into a gully.

Oh, yeah, he'll do even though he wasn't the one you had your sights on. Congratulations.

A beautiful buck to be sure. Congratulations! What did you use to take him?

Congrats to everyone here who scored on their trophies and filling the freezer. My little 110lb White Tail doe looks like a fawn compared to what's posted here. Almost ashamed to post a picture.

Probably the best tasting animal pictured! Making food is something to be proud of, probably more so than a trophy as your intentions are without hubris

South Dakota whitetail buck

Pennsylvania whitetail buck

Both taken in2016, both 9 points, both DIY public land areas I'd never hunted, both were (at the time I shot them) the biggest racked deer I've ever shot. That South Dakota buck is still the biggest bodied deer I've ever shot.

As stated earlier, those are two fine bucks that'd make any serious hunter (and quite a few unserious hunters) proud. Well done!

Very nice Lynn- that one is a bruiser for TN!

Thank You!

Yes, it is...the biggest I've taken since 1995, and I think probably the 2nd or 3rd biggest in all my 30+ years of hunting here (all private land, no WMA's or anything)

That'll be the first deer I've ever had mounted....he's at Bigfoots Taxidermy now.
