Absolutely beautiful congratulations! If you can please give us a few more details on how it came together for you and what you used to bring him down.Had a successful Roosevelt bull elk hunt in the northwest corner of Oregon this year.
Thank you very much! I saw him and two rag horns the day before the opener a long ways off while I was scouting. I pulled out of the area in hopes to not disturb him and see him first thing in the morning. I woke up at 2am and got my butt up there. Hiked in close enough and waited for the fog to lift at first light. It was very foggy but I got a window and spotted the bulls in the same cut. So I kept working my way in with the wind in my favor. Got close enough to put him down where he stood. 280 yards or so.Jason- That sure is a handsome animal. You look like one pretty happy hunter. Was he hanging out in that clear cut or is that just where he ended up? CL
I used the ol tikka 338 federal. Didn’t have time to put a load together this year so I ended up using the factory 200 grain federal fusion. I put 3 behind his shoulder to make sure he went down where he stood. 1 pass through, one recovered on the off side hide and couldn’t find the third.Absolutely beautiful congratulations! Thank you, glad it all came together for you. Maybe you haven't seen it yet but there is a bullet testing section on here where people post up their recovered bullets. The Fusion is a great bullet.I used the ol tikka 338 federal. Didn’t have time to put a load together this year so I ended up using the factory 200 grain federal fusion.
